engine management light

evening all,

Hoping for some advice… my 06 Exige S220 has been sitting idle since October so the battery completely died, I have recently used a trickle charger to get some life back in the battery and have been able to start it up and take it for a drive.

All seems to be running well but I have the engine management light on which i’m pretty sure was not the case prior to the battery dying.

I know the supercharger gears are not in great health (as I get a rattle well the supercharger kicks at 5k and above) but again this was the case before the battery died and never had engine management light on before.

Any ideas? I’m based in Rochester Kent

I’d put a code reader on it and see what it’s whinging about, can get bluetooth ODB dongles off ebay for under a tenner then a cheap app for your phone called Torque

Hi Joe have you checked the belt tensioner arm first as these are known to rattle too.

don’t seem to have much luck with them, I have tried 2 different odb readers and neither of them worked, can anyone give me a link to one that definitely works on the 06 220 ecu? or is anyone local that could try?

Thanks

I had the car serviced at lipscomb lotus in august and asked them to investigate the noise. they suggested that it was coming from the supercharger at the cost of around 2k to fix? they didn’t mention that is was likely to just be the nose/cone that’s more like 600 to replace…

yeah main dealers don’t crack the blowers open though, but yes the nose sections get a beating
