Engine cutting at altitude

Has anyone else experienced problems with fueling when driving at altitude (vhpd, mems ecu)?

A mountain passes drive experienced engine cutting out and required pushing near the top (2000 meters)
Once on the decent and since its been fine.

I experienced a similar issue at the 'ring (couldn’t pull full revs) in my vhpd engined caterham many years ago and was told there’s no barametric pressure sensor with the mems ecu.
Just wondering if this is the exact same issue?

Check with your baro sensor if is still connected? Is hiding behind the engine side panel on the left hand side if you look at it from the back of the car if you get what i mean

Hi Sam, cheers for the reply.

Is this the connector you are talking about (I disconnected the plug for the photo) ?

Just wondering how I go about checking it’s working without a days drive to the Alps

Im sure JDS told me the baro sensor doesn’t change after start up, so when a big change in altitude occurs a restart is necessary
Could be talking complete bollocks buy John will know for sure…
Calling JDS

^ On an S1 Elise yes. They only have a MAP sensor and take a snapshot at ignition on, then use that figure as a BARO reading for the duration of the drive cycle. Exiges have both a MAP and BARO sensor so should cope with the change.

To test, you need to have an ECU reader that displays all the readings, then suck/blow at the BARO sensor port and see if the readings change.

It could be your issue, but I’d be checking air filter, fuel filter/pressure, the pipes and T pieces to the MAP sensor are all OK as well.

^^^he is the man.

Mine got very out of breath on a high pass on the Nyloc tour of 2014. Would hardly pull me up at all.
As soon as we dropped a few feet, all was well.
