Engine Cover

Sorted out the brackets etc. rubbed down and repainted. But when I came to refit the cover, having taken careful note of bracket positioning, the offside of the cover where it meets the roof is standing proud of the roof edge.
I don’t remember it being like that before and no amount of fiddling, adjusting can get it to lay flush like the nearside. While renovating the bracket, I stored the cover on its offside edge in a spare room. Could the modest heat in there have distorted it?

It’s possible, my cover turns to absolute rubber in the sun. I’m sure if stored that way the corner of the cover may have taken a set.
Maybe if you tape the corner down in the sun, let it get hot than cool in position you can correct it.

Agree, I would even try leaving it slightly bent the other way to ensure the edges are pressed naturally against the body.

Thanks guys. The cover is back on the car but there ain’t much sun around in north Lancashire at the moment. I’ll run it and hope
for the best.

I’d tape the edge down - followed an Exige on a trackday once with a similar problem and it was alarming to see how the wind got underneath it and lifted it even further

I thought they were all like that.
No amount of shimming or adjustment would get mine to sit flush…SUN what sun

Thanks, fellas. It’s been back on the car a while now and it seems to have settled a bit. I felt the heat coming up from the engine today and I reckon that helps it soften a little and set.I wasn’t looking for Audi standard panel-fit.
