ahhh.
Right now I am thinking I’ll just remove the gas struts and have nothing.

I got myself one of those RLS props earlier this year - does the job well and neat stowage with little clips.
BUT
Because my car was an early one with gas struts, there was nothing to attach it to at either end on my car. There were threaded holes in the lid and latch cover, and I discovered that you can remove the ball joints from a gas strut and these fit into the holes to create a mounting point at either end for the RLS prop. Location at the car body mount is not that convenient due to its position - think this would be rectified by fitting the upgraded latch cover as found on later cars which has the prop mounting situated higher up. Not quite sure what you’ve done here. Mine is a MY09 car and you simply unclip the gas strut from the ball attachment at either end. May have misunderstood you but certainly a simple fix for later ,single strut, cars.
Yes, that is the whole point of my post, if you have an earlier car with twin gas struts, there are no mounting points for a single central strut
cut down broom handle??
Someone must have a carbon fibre version?
No even me or Chris for that matter, maybe Andy D…as he has lots and lots of CF
Right, that’s a gap in the market then!
Was looking at a few options for a CF one, I am going to look more over the winter
I took my gas strits off this morning, and am now much happier with the way the car sits.
I’ll be buying the RLS rod just as soon as my paypal account goes back into credit!
