I think the cable that releases the engine cover has stretched a bit. As the car’s only a few months I could take it back to B&C but I really can’t be arsed. Is it a simple adjustment to do?
I had trouble the first day of ownership (it’s a MY2010 exige?)
it got fixed on the 1000mile check…
But half a dozen uses after it’s not working again!
The cable travels fully, but the catch doesn’t release
Worse still my battery was flat (don’t know why, for the 2nd time, it’s just 2 months old!), so i couldn’t jump start it
There’s meant to be a spare set of terminals under the front access covers, but not on mine!
So the AA took it away this weekend back to Castle
I’d like to know how they get in the boot, why the catch keeps going wrong & why the battery keeps loosing charge
If i find out i’ll let you know
Do you have the light weight battery option? The alarm will flatten it in only a few days, i use a solar charger on mine to keep it topped up during the week, maybe 260 doesn’t come with the posts below the N/S cover to save weight?
As for the boot release I’m not sure how they get in either, the boot lid can be awkward if it is not properly aligned.
Yeah, lightweight battery as standard, thought Lotus may have said something or tested it to ensure it doesn’t go flat too quickly, i only really use it on weekends, but didn’t last weekend so in just 2 weeks it’s no good - that’s not great
What solar charger do you use?
I also thought it was a weight saving option (ignoring the fact they left the sunvisors, passenger foot rest & driving lamps in? not items i spec’d)
I use the chpone from Maplin and it helps mine last for a few weeks.
Mine’s an MY2010 too. Lever moves the full distance but the catch doesn’t always release.
Looks like it’s back to B&C then.
Got my car back over the weekend
Apparently the boot wouldn’t open due to some of the contents; unfortunately Jim wasn’t there to explain.
The boot lid is completely smooth, so I can’t see how something could have caught on it to prevent it opening, but perhaps it was pushing up on the boot lid? This may have stopped the catch from releasing???
Though I didn’t have any trouble closing the boot? Maybe my bags moved around during transit
I shall be cautious about it, but I hope I don’t get any more trouble
Ade I’ve now got the same solar charger, I hope it suffices, Ben said that in 2 weeks the battery would be flat when not driven
& it would appear the Cup doesn’t have the spare terminals due to weight
Waverunner good luck with your release, hopefully B&C will sort it.
I leave my car with the alarm off and the solar charger on and it seems to last 2 or 3 weeks at least between drives
Waverunner, how did you get on?
The engine cover won’t release again
it’s really annoying, it’s the 3rd time this has happened
Anyone else out there with a MY2010 Exige with the same problem?
Mine is 06 but once had the problem. The nipple at the boot end is not soldered but screw/crimp fixed so it’s easy to take out slack. The mounting plate can also be adjusted to make it work better. For 2010 a dealer should really be able to do this
