All sorry if I’m asking repetitive questions that have been asked before, I’m still in the getting to know you phase of Exige ownership so advice has been great
My car has an emerald ECU, the last lotus I ran with one was a sport160 Elise, and all the bemoaned lumpiness at low revs and speeds was wiped out, it was really well behaved in traffic etc. I haven’t done anything like enough miles with the Exige yet, and I know its a different engine being a VHPD but it’s not brilliant at 1st/2nd gear low town speeds. I’d of expected the Emerald to of played a big part here.
Does anyone has experience of the same. The cars a 190 bhp, standard really beyond Larini exhaust and cat bypass. Anyone have a map from their car I could try? I can save the existing mapping and experiment.
Cheers
I think cam timing can play an important part of VHPD running, my Sport 190 was much better behaved after having veriers fitted and the cams timed properly
I’m new to this Exige malarky but I have to say I’m really impressed with the engine running at idle and slow speed pottering around town - I recently acquired the car and it did have a new cambelt fitted some months prior. Perhaps timing was well adjusted then. It is standard ecu also.
Good luck!
Evo man purely for interest is your car a 177 or 190bhp model - I don’t think it should make any odds but just for interest.
I have an S1 with VHPD and standard ECU.Vernier cams made a big difference and it runs sweet as a nut in traffic, pulls from 1500 in top + revs to 8000.
My 190 Exige wanted to kill me in std trim. No power below 2k rpm, pops bangs and bogging down, emerald, mapping and verniers and it is a pussy cat. No idea which helped most. Got them all done in one go. You will need to adapt the loom for an Emerald.
