The easiest of mods you might say - fitting a removable steering wheel and adapter, how wrong !
I fitted one last week and test drove it around the block and the steering wheel stayed on and did not come off in my hands, nothing clonked or wobbled, nice and tight with no play.
So, I sets off yesterday for a blast down my favourite windy lanes and on a slow left hand turn I heard/felt a slight ‘tonk’ and the whole steering wheel/column now wobbles up and down left and right by 5mm or so.
So, what has happened ?

I hope you haven’t damaged the steering column when you where getting the old one off. The workshop manual warns if you use to much force you can break the telescopic part that collapses in a crash.
Did you use a torque wrench when you did the retaining nut back up ? and did you bend the bit of metal back up that stops the nut undoing ??
The old one came off using a puller that came with the kit and the nut was torqued and secured correctly.
The actual removable assembly is solid, it just seems that it’s the column that moves !
Steering also appears ok.
Welcome to what may be my first ‘Lotus big bill’…
I’d be very surprised if it isn’t just the nut that holds the boss onto the columm. Are you 100% sure you torqued it up fully, and that you replaced the lock washer.
You can also check the column by getting under the dash and seeing if there is any movement in the column from the UJ up.
