Elvington track down to 102db

Just for info, Elvington now has an event noise limit of 102 decibels.

They have had an ongoing court case, and this is the result. Prices have gone up by about 10-20 per car depending on event, to pay for said court case.

Might struggle with my janspeed now. How many decibels does a standard exhaust make?

where is that to be measured at?

And it’s only going to get stricter everywhere, over the next year or so

S1s are going to have to run with at least silenced de-cat pipes, & a silencer in good nick (unlike most of the Janspeed Supersports, which are well shot by now - but sound great!).

Can’t see S2s with Stage 2+ , plus Pipercross/ITG induction meeting the requirements either

Touch wood, I’ve never had a problem, post conversion, at any circuit (Eliseparts silenced de-cat & Edwards silencer).

I think Mr 2ubular is going to be swamped with orders for his excellent product

Fraid you are absolutely spot on there Rob - we’re all going to have to bite t’bullet on this one

Hell, just fitted Janspeed Supersport and it sounds better each time I use the car. So does that mean I may never be able to use it on track(short of changing the exhaust)?

Possibly

Most peeps’s Janspeed S/S on S1s were fitted 4 - 6 years ago, & by now they’re quite often fooked & too loud. You’ll only know by going to a track & getting it tested by the “Noise Cheese”.

Anyway, Thommo, when are you planning on taking it on track? It’s got to be done!

Already bitten the bullet and organised a replacement, mine is proper loud now and been black flagged a few times…will be fitted when I get me charger done

good, it might stop Elises sounding Chav these days

102DB is still a good limit imo, most are 98 DB these days.

Residents are trying to close it completely. My Uncle works at the Museum and he hates the noise too.

I wonder what dB the vampire jet car was!

What about the Air displays - got to be more than 102db?

I teach Air Cadets to fly at another nearby RAF Airfield. It’s been there since 1937. We now have our weekend flying times cut and cant fly after 18.00 due to complaints from locals. We also have to avoid overflying certain villages where some of the nobbers live. These are locals who have moved in and have plenty of money and clout. We didn’t hardly get any complaints 15 years ago!

I honestly think if there was nothing to complain about some people would complain about that!!! FFS

I thought all you fly boys liked to be in the mess long before then for afternoon tea and scones

you’re not wrong Steve.

I think you are referring to the process of Stellarisation!
