Great day at elvington today. Nice and dry in the morning /early aft lots of grip with a super fast chicane !! Then the heavens opened and the fun began, plenty of sliding and spins !!!
Cheers for the pax laps Tony in the Honda’d machine it was awesome, and great to meet the team with the Yellow Exige - Hope the rest of the stag do goes well !! Hopefully cadwell next week will be good as well…
Great to meet you too. Had lots of fun, sliding about, and the stag do boys all survived, so part 3, Amsterdam next on the calendar for December.
Was swapping between wets and yoko 048’s throughout the day. Was suprised at the fact that, even with a light covering of rain, my shitty no-name wets performed much better (more predictable) than the yokos.
Any Elvington veterans will tell you that there is a sweeping righthander at the far end of the course, with many surface changes. About 3/4 of the way round there is about 15 meters of light grey, fairly new tarmac. With my 048’s on it was a bit of a lottery over it, as it felt like ice and totally unbalanced the car, without warning. (i have video of this, lap after lap when it was damp, which has comedy value). On the poo tyres is was fine. It was a bit wierd.
Great day though, good mix of cars and abilities. My brother bought an old porsche 944 just for the day, and had a cracking time. Especially when the heavens opened.

I think some of these slips were due to lack of concentration becuase we were laughing so much.

GREAT !! Watching the video - you can actually see how much it unsettled the car between the two runways, mine was exactly the same every lap.

it was a great day out and good fun and then it started to rain, still good fun but had a real hairy moment down the back straight at 100+ mph
the back just wanted to come round on me (think my bum went)
done a few more laps after that at about 50mph max
