eliseparts flywheel

Has anybody here used one of these with any views ?

I know Scuffers speaks highly of them.
Any opinions on other brands welcomed too.

i got the Monkeywrench one

will be installed within the next 2 weeks

My only experience is of the TRD flywheel as fitted as standard on a Cup260. It made the car feel entirely more lively than my 240.

I’m set on getting a TRD flywheel as I’m keen on being OEM in that department, however Lotus prices are laughable, and I’m sure it could be had for at least a few hundred quid less if you go through Toyota channels instead.

Fidanza.

On the subject of flywheels, what is the likely labour time for a flywheel (and clutch plate) swap? Just trying to brace myself for this years modding costs

12 hours book time I believe just to remove and fit the box …although it’s taking me considerably more !

12 HOURS :astonished:

EP one is decent, we use them with Exedy clutch, it’s about 4-6 hours depending on whether things have been off before. I think 1hr 45 mins was the record under duress at a race meeting…

4-6hours was what I would have guessed at, but if I bring it to you I’ll be happy to pay you for 2hours! You can do what you like in the spare 15mins

1st time and at home without a 4 post ramp in a single garage … I’m thinking around double that . Yes 24 hours !

Stephen is 4-6 hours based on 1 lone person to both remove and refit ?
If so I’m seriously impressed !
Not having a go at all … just ,it’s a pig of a job …

I’m running that flywheel with the Exedy uprated clutch. Its a good bit lighter than the standard item but I’ve not noticed as much change as I expected. I hoped I would really notice it climb the revs more keenly, could well have been expecting too much. It has made pulling away a bit more of an art now tho, have so far avoided any stalls. It also dies every now and then when coming back to idle, not a new problem but its not helped it.

I did the fitting myself in a single garage. Took the box out on the sat, prob 4-6 hours and refitted Sunday taking around the same. I was in no rush as it was my first attempt, could prob do it in a day now if pushed. Doing the job again soon as 2nd and 3rd synchros are shot and I quite fancy an lsd.

Yes, that’s what we would charge in terms of hours. It does help when you’ve done it hundreds of times, proper ramp, transmission jack etc.

to be fair that was two people on to get a car back out after the clutch exploded in qualifying and it was two hours before the race!

Exactly the sort of info I was after.
If the difference is subtle and not ’ night and day ’ then I shan’t bother changing from oem …
You’ve just saved me the best part of 300 quid

It may well be that I’m just not sensitive enough to notice (sure thats been said before!)

I’m no race driver though and the car very rarely see’s the track. For road driving I wouldn’t bother. I replaced mine as my clutch was pretty seriously lunched and I suspected it had trashed the flywheel so replaced it as I didn’t want any major delays when the gearbox was out. I have the option now and given that a gearbox out job may well become part of my servicing routine I can swap if it bothers me.

I was totally surprised by the free-revving nature I experienced, so I’m fully intent on replicating it. Spec was OEM Cup 260.

Hmm, could it be that my car is not standard anyway? Komotec s300 so mapping, inectors etc would be different. Might explain why I didn’t feel that much of a difference from the lighter
flywheel. The flywheel I replaced certainly looked standard.
