Elise S ?

Is it just me or does this seem a littleoff

Elise S:
0-60 mph in 5.8secs but…0-62 mph takes 6.4secs

It’s probably bang on, but just seemed a little weird to me.

Take manufacturers’s figures with a pinch of salt (esp. Lotus!) - difficult to replicate in practice, when it’s your own car being hammered!

Also, the 0-60 times may be the “bench mark”, but I believe 0-80 or 0-100 are more meaningful for real world driving.

Got to agree with you there, Im defiantly most interested by 0-100 times, its a pity that some manufactures dont make them more easily available though. That said the most utterly, flabbergastingly astonishing stat Ive heard recently is for the Ultima GTR720 30-70mph in 1.8 secs !!!

PS. If any of you havent seen the vid yet make sure you check it out http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/records/part6.html

Better yet 30-70 or 30-100, or other through gear or in gear times. It eliminates all that car ruining bollox getting off the line

Tim.

So we’ve now got the Elise ‘S’ to sit below the Elise ‘R’ (previously the 111R) in the Elise lineup. Given the Exige ‘S’ is currently at the top of the Exige lineup whats the chances of an Exige ‘R’ making an appearance later in the year, or have we already had that with the 240R?

whats the chances of an Exige ‘R’

Can Lotus really afford to bring out another slight deviation masquerading as a new model

Why dont they just focus on what they do best, getting the actual new cars right (see Europa), instead of capriciously tidying up their line-up.

David

The difference in time 0-60 and 0-62 might be because of a gearchange. maybe

Why dont they just focus on what they do best, getting the actual new cars right (see Europa)…

LOL! Sorry David, but I very much doubt the Europa is their best work.

Ian

They might have been been seperate tests.

0-62mph is actually 0-100kmh for a pan-european published figure.
0-60mph is peculiar to Britain. Most manufacturers just knock a bit off the 100kmh time though.

As widely speculated on another well known Lotus site, the Europa was a canned Proton project, so a bonus model for Lotus.
An entry level Elise is a good idea.

0-62mph is actually 0-100kmh

Yeah its published as 0-100km/h on the Lotus website, I just didnt think that a difference of 2.1mph would make that much of a difference to the time.

I mean if you look at the figures Porsche published for the Boxster it does:

0-60mph in 6.0secs
and
0-100kph in 6.2secs

It just makes the difference between the two Lotus times seem a little… big.
