Elise parts quickshifter

Just bought an Elise parts quickshifter - being fitted this w/e.Is there any mileage in machining the lever to make it shorter? i.e. as well as moving less distance between each change there would be even less movement due to the gearlever being shorter.Probably a daft question as Eliseparts would have done it if necessary, but it would be easier to machine before fitting etc.Any comments appreciated from anyone who already has one.Ta Phil GT

Hi Phil,I think you might find it to stiff if it was any shorter, its a shame that he didn’t keep the same size stick with the short throw.Try it out by holding it further down the shaft to see how stiff it becomes [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image]

If it’s the same as the Lotus one, and minimal movement is what you’re after, make sure it is installed with the 33% reduction, rather than 23%. Although be warned I have heard that can make 5th harder to engage (not that you really use 5th on a track).Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
