For those who are interested I’ll try to keep this thread updated as the season progresses.
Peter Lucas is running a S/C HondaElise powered Motorspsort Elise in the Australian GT Championship.
After the first round at Eastern Creek Peter was placed 9th in the championship. A great result.
The second round was last weekend at the old Adelaide GP circuit. This was Peter’s first time at this track, it is surrounded by concrete walls and the ambient air temp was 40C. Intake air temp was over 50C.
Over the weekend as Peter learned the track he got quicker and quicker.
Qualifying 12th
Race 1 9th
Race 2 7th
Race 3 7th (only 1.5sec behind 6th with a time faster than all the GT3 Cup Porsches. This time would have placed him in 5th at Qualifying)
The car ran hard all weekend unlike many other who suffered in the heat.
As a result of his consistency and strong finishing Peter is now 5th outright in the Championship behind some seriously powerful machinery and professional drivers.
This is only Peter’s first full year in the GT Champ and he is learning fast.
The little Lotus was the crowd favourite and is attracting a lot of attention for it’s giant killing ability.
Next round is at Bathurst over Easter. Looking forward to it.
For the record Peter has another Motorsport Elise with a Rover engine in it which was being driven by his mate. It retired from practice with a large whole in the block.
Looking down the list there’s a few Elises in there - what happened to Angelo Lazaris in the Lotus Exige GT3? Isn’t that the ex-Cadena car from last year?
Dave, would you know if any coverage of the other rounds is floating about the internet, I had I little look on Googlevideo/YouTube but couldnt seem to find much…
