Turned the lights on last night and the sidelights were’nt working or the dash illumination or the rear lights. This follows me changing the stereo and speakers.Looked at the fuses 1st to find one had blown, changed it turned on side lights only and it blew again, and again. When the fuse had blown you could still here the relay switching.Took out drivers side speaker pod and cowl,no obvious damage to any of the wires changed over the plugs for side and main beam to check the switch, switch was fine, put it all back together again and hey presto it works again! But i don’t like not finding a problem, now i’m paranoid it’s going to blow at an inapropriate time.Any ideas of where else to look for a possible damaged wire.TIA.

How did you change the stereo? Does the Lotus loom just plug straight into the new unit? I’ve heard of various OE looms which have unexpected connections in the DIN plug. Check the installation instructions for the old Blaupunkt (downloadable here Invented for life | Bosch Global ) and compare then pin outs to make sure there’s no possibility that something is conflicting.

If the speaker wires chafe of something you usually blow a fuse on the radio itself rather than the cars fuses.

Hope you find it.
