Edwards diffuser pics/dimensions?

Hi lads,

I’ve been busy on the CAD modelling up my OEM S1 diffuser with a mind to use this as a base to make an extended version much like the Edwasds ones many of you lot have fitted to your cars. We’ve got a couple of VERY fast tracks here and the more rear-end, high-speed stability I can get, the better!

I’d happily buy one off them, but freight to NZ would make it prohibitively expensive so thought I’d try my own. I just want to know how far to extend the rear lip of the extended diffuser and how low to make the channel-fins. I also want to know what profile to make the rear lip, whether to just extend the edge of the diffuser or whether to square it off more. Alternatively I could just follow the bodywork profile.

I Don’t want to end up with something that sticks out a mile and looks too silly, but I don’t want something that just looks better but does nothing to benefit the handling.

If anyone can help out with some detailed pics of Edwards-arsed S1s (or other similar designs), I’d appreciate it muchly

George.

If I were you I would get in contact with Martin directly, you should find some contact details here

Doesn’t Jez have one on his Exige?

Happy Birthday George!

See Pesk I still got the eye for those cakes…

Doesn’t Jez have one on his Exige?

He does, but he’s down country at the moment Will have to hit him up and see if he can’t get me some photos

Think he’s been too busy exploring the countryside in the Tengerine Terror!

WOT ya mean Tangerine Terror …Stealth Orange is the new IN colour.
I need a car to test when I arrive in December…hope ypu KiwiExigers have got something lined up!!!

What dates you here in December? if you’re here by the 10th/11th, I’m sure I can arrange some tracklaps in either one of the cars

Benja - emailed the Edwards Bros as I’m keen on a diffuser for my car, using the link you posted, but no response for 2 weeks…any idea why?

Cartmann

I’ll probably be speaking with Martin Edwards tomorrow (& I’m seeing him on Saturday in any event), so I’ll let him know you’re after a diffuser. Don’t forget that tinkering with cars is their hobby, not their livelihoods

And what a fine job of tinkering they do Mr P

S1 Exige soon to be tinkered with

Thanks Pesky,

If he’s fine to look for my emails and reply that’s fine. If he’s happy for me to phone him, can you in that case PM me his number?

Cheers!

Did you ever manage to get a pic\dimensions for the diffuser? Only I have one fitted to my car so if you want I could whip it off and take a few pics and measurements.

No, I haven’t yet, have been doing other stuff so have put this on the back burner. Some measurements would be GREAT. Basically just want to know whether the shape of the rear lip of the diffuser follows the line of the car and if it sticks out, how much does it stick out by? Also an approximate height of the fins above the ground (of course this’ll depend on ride-height too, but approximate is good.

Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated

Hi Cartmann

Told Martin you’re trying to get in touch - he’ll look at his “Inbox” & get back to you. In the meantime, I’ll pm you his phone number, so you can chase him after the weekend if needs be.

I haven’t forgotten about you. I didn’t get a chance at the weekend to do it, but I’ll definitely do it this weekend.

That’s fine, no hurry… it’s just hovering around on my “things to do when bored” list

Pesky - Thanks

I got an email from him earlier in the week and am organising one. Can’t wait.

Thanks for letting me know

Hi I’ve taken it off and have done a drawing of it in SolidWorks 2007 How would you like it? A drawing, DXF or SolidWorks files etc?

Oh awesome!

I’ve got SW2007, so you can send me the SLDPRT file and it’ll be fine.

lotus_esprit_350 at hot mail dot com should see it get through to me fine.

Many many thanks, I’ll be able to get it all drawn up and off to manfacture soon
