Easytrack Day 20th Nov Oulton Park

Just got back from Oulton. Up and down day overall

Easytrack organisation was very good, driving standard on the whole pretty good, not too many cars (46), not wet but not quite dry either, no punctures.

Actually got some decent runs on a slightly tricky track. Managed to glimpse a little of the minimal skill I had 2 years ago  Also got some really good pics which I will post up later.

Now the bad news - towards the end of a fast session after lunch on a drying line I was accelerating hard in 3rd gear when the power dropped off and then came back again. I thought I’d maybe hit the limiter so carried on.

Next full acceleration, again in third gear up to around 7000rpm and power dropped off again. I noticed that the the dash flashed and dimmed as it happened.

No MIL light but I slowed down and went back to the pits. Checked around and no sign of any obvious problems.

Car is running, starting, idling ok. Called it a day as not sure what the issue is. On the drive home had a couple of blasts up over 7000rpm with no problems.

Any thoughts or words of wisdom ? just looking for a little comfort as I will be booking it in for a thorough check next week.

And before anyone starts my race suit is still white (ish) !!!

Pics - I think

If you look closely you can see my legendary shiny white race suit

Seen a couple of battery terminals come loose on the lightweight battery’s. Worth a 2 minute check of them.

:sunglasses: looking good Chris…loving the stickers mate

Sorry cany be any help with the problem but have to say your car looks superb, was gonna come down to Oulton for a watch too as was near by on a drive out, wish i had now.

Does it sound like an electrical issue then ?

Read a thread somewhere about dropping off the 2nd cam due to oil starvation - oil seemed fine & accusump pressure looked normal

If the dash was flashing/diming it sounds more electrical than oil starvation. Only takes 2 mins to check as well.

We have looked into ‘proper’ posts for the Odessey batteries, but they’re 20 odd for the pair.

The Odessey you fitted for me has been great John… no ‘proper’ posts either. :sunglasses:

Does sound ‘electrical’ with the dash lights flickering… can a dead short cause this… eg: starter motor or other high amp user?

Had similar electrical gremilins at Spa a couple of years ago, sorted by JRS when they did the gearbox work it was just some faulty connection failing when very hot  hope you get it sorted

Well, just checked and both the live and earth connections were loose - quite loose in fact. I was able to move the connections up and down !!!

Tightned up and been for a quick blast and all ‘seems’ OK.
Checked the TRD airbox and again all looks OK.
Have booked the car in @ CN’s on Friday for a precautionary check before the next TD - these curtailed TD’s are getting a touch expensive now not to mention fooking frustrating
