Is that your own conversion? Any ideas as to what a standard duratec conversion would cost pls, both the 2.0 and 2.3 sc or na
That looks awesome!!! Very nice looking install!!
Mmmmm, shiny!
Very, very neat.
Like it alot
Whose car is that, Graham? (Nitron’s before the fire?)
[color:“blue”]Edit: That should read: “As rebuilt after the fire”. [/color]

May i ask why it caught fire? Are there any stories (based on fact lol) of reliability issues with duratec whether it be na or sc pls?

Just thinking more deeply about this - I’m pretty sure the car was Audi engined when it caught fire, then was rebuilt with the Duratec. Don’t know what happened to the car since the rebuild (perhaps still at Nitron?)- it didn’t meet the LOT regs, without a lot of “reverse engineering”.
The car was purely a race car - Mid Engined Series & it caught fire at Brands in August of the 2005 season. I think the fuel line worked loose, but I’m not at all certain on that point - anyway, that’s the sort of thing that could happen to any car.

Its no longer own by Nitron, it was bought by a company in Fleet that speciallies in Honda Integra Type R’s. Its also worth mentioning that when I was talking to Dave back in November (Dave I think that was his name) wasn’t happy with how the car was put back together. The rear clam flew/ripped off at 130mph, and the engine management re-map was pretty awful. His words, not mine.
I’ll find out the full details later.
Edit His name was Tom from TGM

The car didn’t have an Audi in it, there was talk of fitting one but it never happened.

Thanks for clearing that up, Bernard. Unfortunately, the “system” won’t allow me to go back & edit my post, so apologies to all concerned, for the misinformation therein.
Looking at prices etc im actually looking more towards the honda sc route now… Havent spent any money yet, just doing the reading up so i make the right decision lol. Currently have a twin exit quicksilver zorst with decat on the k series, is it possible to use this on the honda sc or would i need a replacement? Id def be looking for the same look with decat (louder the better haha) does anyone have any pics of theirs pls…?
Hi before you dismiss the Duratec have a chat with Steve at SW Lotus. He is putting a conversion together as we speak. I to am looking at a Duratec convesion for rallying / endurance racing. The Duratec is a cheap engine and does provide alot of power.
