Driving Lamp Change - Clamshell off??

I need to replace a broken driving lamp (in no rush, as its been bust for ages, and now have the perspex lens covers, albeit too late to save the first one.) I have a replacement unit, but have been told by an independant specialist, that it is a front clam off job (160) to change it.

Is this right, or is their a way to change the driving lamp without going to this hassle?

Do a search on the site, as you’re not the first to have this prob (although it’s been a while). I seem to remember that it can be done without removing the clam but is difficult (a twelve year old with double jointed wrists may help).

I have a crack in one of mine, but they’re not cheap, so I just put the covers on and didn’t bother replacing it.

I had to replace both after some $5*& bag drove into the kitti litter at Donnington and spread it all over the track - so yes its possible and yes its a bit of a puzzle but can be done for sure

Thanks all, when I get some time, I might attempt it. I already have the lamp, bought at Stoneleigh last year for 35.00.
