Driving abroad

With my drive to spa coming soon, what do I need to comply with euro laws for France and Belgium?

Bulb kit?
Warning Triange?
Bright green jacket thing?
Insurance documents?
Licence?

Anything else?
Have not driven abroad for about 10 years and stuff has moved on somewhat.

Ade

Check insurance is valid in Eurozone (should be, but worth checking), & get yourself some breakdown cover if you haven’t already!

Technically you should have headlight beams adjusted, or those sticky things on the covers to stop you blinding Froggy at night.

Take it easy, but enjoy the drive, mate. :sunglasses:

I know that the high viz jacket has to be in the car and not in your boot. Bloody French!!

And a couple of bottles of nice French wine … To thank the friendly farmer who loans you his tools to fix your broken car!!
Happened to me this year albiet in a Smart car

Yes ADE you need a licence, but I think you will find thats true for this country too!

HAHAHA

MUST HAVE ITEMS
Reflective jacket or vest, per occupant This MUST be kept in the car and to hand.
Headlamp beam converters
Spare bulb kit
2 x Warning Triangle
First Aid Kit
GB sticker, unless your registration plates have the GB, symbol or flag
Vehicle Registration Documents V5
Insurance Certificate, original, and Green Card if not included
Driving Licence, both paper & photocard parts
European Health Insurance Card (E111)

what the crack then if you get there with out one, if you didn’t know for example? and is this just for holidayer’s or for all french poeple as well

if you wear glasses you need a spare pair.

joke?

never heard of spare glasses, neither of the obligation to have two warning triangles with you…

If you drive a S1 bring a litre or two of oil (10w60 or whatever you use is not sold at every corner…)

enjoy the continent then

It’d be a brave person to venture abroad with a K series engine !!
I think the boot only holds 55 KG … not nearly enough for 50L of engine oil and tools !!

Lol  lol  lol

joke? [/quote]

nope, same as people in wheel chairs have to have a full set of spares. Its in my leaflet from the gov. It also talks about wigs and spare glue or something and the blind needing eye tests before going. Weird.

Joke ?

Read the bit under “driving” on this -

err… Drive on the right would be a good starter

Historically I have done bugger all of that list, apart from the license and V5

We are likely to get pulled as a convoy of 3 Loti exotica though

I do have a special item I will be taking with me, to make the journey less dull

It looks like people are making this more difficult than it is … here is my input:

  • For Belgium: avoid the holes on the highways and you will be safe… and if you believe that you can have a sunny day… forget it… Spa only survives with heavy rains :)… and by the way, if you get sun, please go quickly outside of the track and buy a lottery ticket (it never happens more than once a year).

  • For France: “Blue jedi’s” are everywhere… they are hiding on the bridge or waiting you at the toll… with incredible high-tech toys… be carefull…

If you plan to pass near Brussels, give me a sign, I will turn on the lights of mine

There’s a LOT day at Zolder Friday so you should see a few go past Thursday morn/Friday evening.
