Drivers Republic has closed its doors. I enjoyed it and will miss the videos and articles. I wonder why they have decided to shut up shop. Oh well.
Was that where Chris Harris went?
Yep and a couple of guys from EVO, Jethro (?) and Richard Meaden.
I heard the site was good but never used it, shame.
I don’t know about you guys, but if i want to read a book/magazine/newspaper i go to a shop & buy one. You can’t take your computer to the bog/on holiday/on transport without hassle.
Drivers republic may have had good material, but it’s not really what the internet is for IMHO.
A good idea on the wrong format sadly. Anyway, they (Meaden & Bovington) were sponsored by porsche, although they’d never admit it

It will all end up this way eventually. Its just a matter of time before peronal reading devices are everywhere.

Just for porn.

What do you mean ?[/quote]
Chris Harris doesn’t live far from me…always saw him in some exotic car around the place. Wonder if he pops up in Autocar again.
Aww that’s a shame, I was a regular reader, but it’s early adopter stuff… trying to get sponsors/advertisers on board is always going to be a tough ask.
RIP

Personal reading devices - fair enough for some, but not for me.
The internet for porn? surely not To me it’s an information database, & an effective communication tool. A bit like the worlds most comprehensive encyclopedia & most efficient postman rolled in to one. It’s not somewhere to watch tv or read a book/mag though.
The wrong format - at work if i’m issued a report more than just a couple of pages i’ll print it off to read. It’s not just me either. Looking at a sceen all day is bad news & not the mosrt relaxing format to study anything.
PS I am a luddite

Are we related?
The format did have the advantage it didnt have to cut a feature down to a page count, however the site was confusing and user section aweful.
Needed more videos too
