Drive....

Any thoughts…

Knew this was coming for a few reasons; it was obviously seed funded and was going to need to stand on it’s own feet at some point, the content has dried up recently and it’s obvious they were building a cache of content.

Everything on you tube is free right? It’s only cats doing silly things, shot by a iphone user with parkinsons, after all. This is the general view of youtube, be it caricatured. Now if they had it on: App Store / Play / Sky OD maybe that’d help, however my doubts are that the bang for buck just won’t be there as they’ll fail to produce enough content.

Now if they can do longer shows, and let people buy them ad-hoc until getting a sub is a no brainer, then they’re onto something.

I like Harris and enjoy his vids but the American dude does nothing for me. In minutes terms how much footage does Harris make a year, an hour or two? £30pa for an hour or two of content, he makes Sky look like awesome value

This formula won’t work if you ask me.

yeah they have one anchor show with ‘chris harris on cars’, and ‘tuned’ I’d watch if it was bundled, ‘big muscle’ meh if I’m bored the other shows are just boring + verging on annoying.

No one would buy evo if it had 2 articles a month.

I was thinking along the same lines

Don’t see it working either I’m afraid… people will spend all day watching youtube videos as long as they are free, but put a price on it and people will not bother IMHO… the other problem is that IF they do become popular, they will be on torrent sites or elsewhere on the internet for free within days of release anyway.

I do like Harris, and there must be an avenue for the kind of stuff he does… I personally haven’t bought a paper magazine for a long time now… the internet has all the info you need.

thinking about it, could just wait for them to amass 6 months worth of content (6 videos then) pay the £2.50 for a month to catch up then ditch it for another 6 months.

He needs to go back to EVO mag who have a revenue stream to make the videos to support their brand. Combined it may work.

Mags are dying though

Not in my bathroom

Have you seen EVOs iPad subscription app? It’s pretty good, plenty of additional media stuff.

Oh they have an android version too, might take a look then!

Does the Porsche still win?

Thought so :unamused:

I like a mag that still lets Ferrari get angry and withhold cars rather than give it wins. True their car of the year was again a 911 last year but they made the Exige S and Pagini joint winners in 2012 over two Porsches.
