Drift day @ Oulton

If any hard Northeners fancy getting frostbite whilst driving sideways we are oop at Oulton today (in the highlighter pen).

Personally, I will be wearing my VVR t shirt and shorts, no undies.

See you there…

What’s your vehicle of choice Russ?

Ian

He’s taken the racing Exige, sorry, little red tractor

Was a great day, started off very foggy and icy (9am start) but it cleared after a bit. The track was unbelievably slippy, especially after they sprayed it with freezing water! Those M3 CSL’s were gorgeous, and have about as little grip as me on semi-slicks…

The main thing I learnt on the cornering was slow in, slow out in these conditions, or slow in, fast out if you want to go sideways. But fast in, anything out normally meant understeer off the track, which I shall remember for the Winter roads… Very educational as well as fun.

Glad you enjoyed it Bob. The thing that struck me from this and the last day is that the Lotuses are the hardest car to maintain a drift in. It certainly puts the skills of the factory drivers in a new light - I used to think it was going to be easy but it certainly is not!

And that is you in the video Russ, going, “Oh Hellooooo”

Some cracking footage there Bob. You will get a copy of the official Tracksport one as well soon.
