noticed a rattle has developed on the drivers side door, sounds like its a bit loose. Am i correct in thinking the original locking pins suffered a design fault and can be swapped under warranty. I think the story goes that as the door seals loosen up, thats when the problem becomes apparent - car has now done 10k miles.
Mine came loose the other day to the point that the door didn’t look shut properly, it was knocking and banging over bumps aswell. I thought it may have been the pin worn at first but looking at it, it all seemed to be in good condition. It turned out that the pin in the door frame had came loose and just need resetting and tightening up with a set of adjustables.
There is about 10mm of movement on the pin when you loosen it off a couple of turns (in and out), this is to allow for adjustment to the door to gain a flush fit against the rear clam when it is shut (p.s dont unwind the pin all the way out, there are a number of washers and spacers between the fibreglass bodywork and the roll hoop that the pin bolts into. If these washers drop down because you have taken the pin all the way out then you will have to strip the rear parcel shelf out to put them back in place!!!).
I know there was a problem with undersize door pins on early S2 Elises and VX220s, but I thought that was resolved before Exige S2 production started.
