I cant help but think that if Chris wasn’t there, then it would have been me T-boning him in the drivers door as he was never going to recover that from spinning. [/quote]
Seeing as i saved you then Gav do you fancy going halves on my repair bill

Is there really no recourse to the Aston driver, especially if you could show him the footage?

In practice no!
In theory, I suppose you could sue for negligence (or whatever), but just think of the cost of doing that, & then consider the chance of winning. Also, bear in mind that if you lose, you pick up the other side’s legal costs too! Only winners in these sorts of situations, are the lawyers!
Racing ain’t a cheap sport (at any level), & I think a few peeps, who are entering next year’s L-O-T Series, will be in for some shocks in that respect. If you can’t afford to write off your car, at your own expense, or afford to insure it, then you really shouldn’t be racing. Will be an interesting series to watch, I reckon

Perhaps better book a seat in the Paddock when the drivers return after having an off

I can’t afford to trash my car so I’m sticking to the organisation side and keeping the drivers under control.
But knowing who is doing it I don’t see it being too much of an issue, I fully expect most will insure.
I think you will find pretty much everyone knows what to expect cost wise.
There are some familiar names in the diver line-up and some very nice bits of kit, looks like it could be good fun to watch .
Speaking of which, do we know when things are kicking off?

To be honest Steve im treating it as a racing incident I think if you had the potential to be held responsible for any damage you may cause when racing hardly anyone would do it.
Luckily i can repair my car easily myself so its not really an issue, at the end of the day it could have been me at fault and i wouldnt want to be hit with the repair bill for the Aston

Almost. Calander should be released soon.

Some of the drivers profiles are quite amusing.

Understand where you are coming from there, some of those Astons are very expensive I was just curious whether there was an unofficial etiquette in the pit lane.
Quite an impressive clip to keep for the racing library.
I fully expect most will insure.
Mark can you actually insure a race car ?? obviously you can get cover for track days but i would have thought actual racing would be a big no no

Chris,
You can yes, there are currently two main companies who provide race insurance http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk and http://www.moris.co.uk The price varies depending on the amount you insure for.
Mark
I appreciate that you may not know the following, but has anyone got a quote for say a 25K value vehicle, racing on track, & what is the excess? Presumably, the underwriters would insure race cars on an event basis?
TIA
I got a quote from CCI earlier in the year just out of interest
IIRC it will cost you about 600 -650 for 15-20k of cover with 3-4k excess.
That was PER EVENT btw, doing 2 races and 2 qualifying sessions.
not cheap…
Gav
That’s the sort of cost I thought it would be, judging by their charges for a trackday.
Wonder how many of the L-O-T peeps will bother with insurance?
Difficult one to call really as you pretty much need to total your car to get anything back from them. For the likes of Chris’s little tangle it would probably not even be worth filling a claim from out…
Racing is racing and all that goes with it, regardless of who is sitting on the grid and what experience or skill they may have, You will get all the same type of incidents that happen at any other race when the adrenalin is pumping and 30 cars are making for the same corner. To think that all will be ok because evryone knows each other is not the way to look at it im afraid as it just doenst work like that.
Gav

Not many at that kind of cost

I wouldn’t have thought so either, but most of them are southern IT bods
