Thanks for the post Sean. I am sorry to hear you didn’t make it to Donny - I (and many others) have loved following the progress of your car build and were really rooting for you in the MESC. Shame we will be competitors next year, though I expect you will only be seeing me in your rear view mirrow or when you lap me! That gearbox / clutch combo seems to be a nightmare though. You should have stolen maddogs UCR box then.
Good job Simon on knocking the engine together so quickly.
Real sorry to hear that Sean. I had heard that Simon was putting an engine together at the last minute for somebody. Shame it didn’t work out for you. You just don’t seem to having much luck at all this season do you ? Hope it all goes better next year.
Anyone know what engines / setup they were running in the sunbeam tigers - that really does seem very quick for an old car design.
Don’t you be underestimating those Historics, Shangers! The pace of the Cortina isn’t that far at all off the 240, it’s just let down by the gloriously slippy period tyres.
The Tiger has the 4.7 litre 289 engine from the Mustang. They’re very quick.
Gavin, blinding run, dude Looks like you had a guy we race with, Les Goble, just behind you at the finish. Must have looked pretty monstrous in your mirrors.

Bernard
Cheers Bernard and Shangani. Yeah better luck next year, I honestly don’t think it could get any worse.
Have had a good look at my car today and i know it sounds daft but i think i have been really lucky no damage to suspension or anything else apart from the rear clam which hopefully i can get repaired.
Anyway its not put me off racing at all, i cant wait until the next one
Russ, Sean,Gavin etc are you planning on still doing the endurance races with AMOC next year ???
If they have the room and will let us in, I would certainly look at doing the nearer ones, i.e. Oulton, Donny, Silverstone etc., but could do without trailing to Brands, Snett and Pembrey.
[Then the first calamity of the day, about 100 miles into my journey, I look in the rear view mirror and thought, my car looks different, then it dawned on me that my bloody roof had blown off!!! lol. I couldn’t believe it!!!
So now I understand the post on another thread!
Can’t believe the bad luck you have been having, but then with such a combo of different parts I guess some “development” has to be factored in.
I hope you keep with the g/box and paddle shift as it really sounds like it should work.
Gutted that I could not be there, but my planned attendance was always a bit optimistic given my recently acquired paternal responsibilities…
Well done to all those that made it out there and what is there to say Sean,…all the gremlins must have surfaced now ready for a dominant season next year
A certain Noble driver I know pointed me to this clip of the start onboard from Paul Cundy’s Noble. Shows the Aston mounting Evosal’s car,…bad luck Chris
It also shows what a stonking start Gav had,…well done fella…sneak-up-the-middle-tastic
Thanks Ben for posting the link, its strange the forces at work in an accident, that Aston probably weighed nearly two tons yet it was tossed into the air like a toy car Lucky it didnt land on my roof
We have been showing the video to a few customers today (it was from Paul Cundy’s Noble, another Plans car)
I thought “fansatic, exciting, brilliant, really shows the excitment of racing over track days”
Stangely, I’m now not sure if it encourages people to go racing or puts them off.
Anyway, I should mention that our trusty 1.8 Motorsport Elise qualified 7th, up to 4th on the first lap, down to 6th (driven past on the straights) and finally finished 5th. It was first in class and fifth overall, with the first four cars all having at least twice the horsepower
Thanks to all the Plans boys (and to Dean) for my little outing.
The car’s for sale. genuine, unmolested works motorsport car (chassis number LM004) Two lady owners.
I certainly dont need a second invitation Ben, if the gap is big enough I will take it . Although I cant help but think that if Chris wasn’t there, then it would have been me T-boning him in the drivers door as he was never going to recover that from spinning.
Its a shame Paul Cundy didnt keep his foot in as he got a good start also. I think he would have missed it had he just aimed at where it happened, as the contact just pushed both cars straight on into the gravel.
