Glad you got home safely, Ben - hope Ian did in particular, & everyone too.
I took a detour to get Ian within ten miles of home with him close behind me with his only his sidelights on (his alternator was on its way out)…so I’m pretty certain he got home safe.
Sh1t ! Driving back to Hampshire in that rain with just his sidelights on ! Now that must have taken more concentration that some of the corners at Donnington. It was lashing it down on M1 !
Glad you both got back safe and bet you slept like logs last night !
Also hope Ian’s car is a relatively straightforward (read inexpensive) to repair.
Con you are not wrong! But don’t worry I did allow myself intermittent in the rain. I turned on main beam when I needed to be seen properly. Don’t recommend it as a hobby though, melted my brain.
Apparently now the A/C has gone the alternator can be changed in 6.5mins. I’m wondering whether to buy a spare though as I’m going though them every 10,000 miles.

I’m using a Race Technology DL1 as the data logger. Wired to the throttle position sensor, and also to the brake light switch. RPM and various other readings are coming direct from the ECU through an ODB interface cable. Throttle position is also available from the ODB but isn’t sampled often enough to overlay on video. Speed and position are derived from GPS, and the G reading comes from accelerometers in the DL1.
The data is output to a csv file by their analysis software, and then overlaid on the video using Trackvision Desktop 2.0 They provide a number of out of the box displays but I’ve customised to give the info I want. Might add some shift lights next time The Trackvision setup works with most dataloggers. If you can get a CSV file from the logger output then it will work with Trackvision.
Couple of problems to sort out just now.
You’ll notice that sometimes the brake appears to stay on. This is down to the LED brake lights where the voltage doesn’t return to zero immediately after the pedal is released. Think I’ll have to add a resistor to pull it back down.
The other relates not to the datalogging setup but to my video editing tools. As seen in this video I’m struggling with the audio sync after editing (cropping) the video.
Coincidentally I noticed last night that Drivers Republic are also using the Trackvision setup for their videos.
Was really good to meet you guys from Exiges.com. I made it home on Tuesday morning at 2am after been at hethel at the weekend and Snetterton on Monday.
