A quick thanks to Jonnyfox for the PAX laps today.
Tricky conditions to begin with being wet with some standing water… After lunch the track dried and laps got quicker
In car tomorrow and BaT specials to follow…good to finally meet you Jonny…and holy s**t I had to double take upon seeing Wallsy and Hubby Gary (thanks for texting his name Pesky…sorry Gary forgot )…bloody long way from Aberdeen. Silver S1 there also lurks but not registered yet (SHOW YOURSELF… ) Good day, going quick towards the end…bit rusty (no wish bone jokes) since last visit in September but happy overall considering I left the suspension on road settings all day
Good to see you on Tuesday. Turned out to be a good day after the track dried out and the red flags stopped. (Wonder how a certain individual got on with explaining his little misshap to the hire car company?)
Had a lot of fun in the Elise, didn’t like the Caterfield, (troll mode on) S2 is a lot easier to drive than a real Exige (troll mode off).
Although sure I could find space in the garage for one. Thought I was doing well making a case for this, until they let Garry out in the 2-11.
Wallsy
p.s What’s with you slagging off my [color:“pink”] wheels [/color] behind my back
I think it looks the bollox mate really, totally got your signiture on it , it’s what I’ve done to mine I guess. Makes sure he buys an S2, a 2-11 could be very inpractical from where you are…unless like you say you are as mad as a hatter…Scooty
On a side note bloody hell…just cleaned the car, took the wheels off and found a screw bured in the outter wall of one of the back tyres…can’t of been there long, they were brand new all round…lucky phew! Got to buy a bloom’in new one now
I had a good day at donington yesterday. (Despite having a load of problems with my brakes vibrating in the afternoon RS-14’s). First trackday with “Randy’s” nitrons
Two quick video’s
first a full lap around donington (seems strange without a dunlop bridge)
Nice laps…I see you got a dry day. I had the only wet day in the bl00dy week last week Your car looks solid, how does it feel. Ran mine soft all day, just couldn’t be borthered to change it by 3pm what with driving home…never really got to give it the beans. Fun though and probably a good thing with a screw in the back tyre!
yeah until lunch time it was going great. Still need to try playing around with the setup as i was getting a bit of understeer at various places.
Been looking over my video and timing various laps. I think my quickest was 1.23
Looking at the LOT Class A qualifying times from 2007 when they did National circuit Martin Donnelly’s pole time was 1.22.5 So i’m pretty happy with my laps.
Excellent stuff Chris, mine were 1.33 according to the VideoCam …oh well will book late April and try then although 1.23 is a little beyond me at the moment
To be honest it was more like a test day. Most of the cars there where race teams Ginetta’s etc all running full telemtry with laptops out etc in the pits !!
Yep same here, being a loud day loads of stuff testing…I’m especially fond of the head shaking that goes on because us lowly track dayers don’t get out of the way IMMEDIATLEY. I had one Radical so close to me I couldn’t even see it in my rear view mirrors! And looking at times at home on my TV is not the same thing at all.
I remember at Croft last year (LoT day), the brief beforehand really banged on & on & on & on about timing and the dire consequences of being found in possesion of a stop watch… but ‘timing’ is ok if done during ‘testing’ and you belong to a ‘team’.
It was a donington Park Trackzone day that LOT had taken over the advanced group. I was in the LOT group but a few friends were running in the track zone sessions as they were novices and LOT said no novices in their session.
A load of full on race teams where there with articulated lorries etc running in the two trackzone sessions. Ginettas, radicals, VW cup cars etc
LOT was driven as well as ever (so i have no complaints at all) but the other sessions were a shambles. I went out as a passenger and it confimed that i will never do a trackzone day. The organisers wern’t even that bothered when people complained about some of the driving.
e.g overtaking in braking zones (at one point three wide when i was a passenger with a mate)
