Donington Unsilenced Day 22nd October

Come on guys, let’s do it!

http://bookatrack.com/-pE_Trackday-Calendar.html

I think this event is almost as much in the diary as Anglesey at Easter,…I’m in :sunglasses:

I certainly plan that this won’t be the first visit to Donny this year!

Count me in !

In but need to check some dates later in the year.

I’m in. The unsilenced day is the only chance they’ll currently let me near the place.

I’m busy planning a meeting in Europe for October … “sounds” like a perfect plan

Ohhhhh Yes - cat by pass here I come.

Mark

I will do my best to be there.

4 out of 10 for conviction :unamused:

Sorry mate, some of us work for a living!!

Yeah sorry mate, it’s easy for me I’ll just hack into a few extra voicemails the day before to make up for the day off…

exactly!!

bloody hell you lot must be rich, I can’t justify £300 on a track day :frowning: (just bought a new house, got married) By the time you factor in fuel, tyres etc its a £600 day. Cost me £100 to do Snetterton on a Sunday and it was a 105db day.

The circuit, the season and the TDO define the price. Snet in the winter with Javelin is always gonna be a bit of a bargain compared to the only noisy day of the year at Donny with BAT.

Several of us have done this day for the last few years and whilst its expensive I’ve never felt short changed.

As Ben says, it’s worth doing 1 day there, rather than 2 or 3 on a non race circuit. There are always some “mega cars” on the unsilenced days, to drool over too.

If you’re spending £300 per track day on fuel, tyres, servicing, instruction etc. then your Snett day actually cost about £400. I think you asked about garages in the midlands before so I’d guess, that like me, Snett is a 3 hour drive and donnington’s on your doorstep? Factor in the extra fuel getting to the East coast and a hotel and maybe you’re Snett day was north of £500.

I’m only pointing this out because I did about 30 track days last year and came to the conclusion that the booking cost isn’t that big a consideration as you get what you pay for and small differences don’t really matter when each track day ends up costing about 500quid all in. The rates are very similar between most organisers for similar venues/dates with the differences generally coming down to the amount of cars on track or the quality of the organisation/crowd.

Most tdays are in the same price bracket. There may be cheap £100 airfield days run by Javelin and motorsport events through the year but tbh you’re basically paying for a half day driving because a full day on a coned out circuit would be incredibly boring, most people leave at lunch on these days in my experience and the surfaces are rubbish. Then you have £500 trackdays with RMA/Goldtrack where you’re paying a premium for lower numbers and fewer rules but aside from these extremes the bulk of UK trackdays cost pretty much the same @ £200-250 pd (lower priced winter days being an obvious exception but weather is a huge gamble so no-one would pay summer prices and again you get what you pay for)

obviously donny is also known for being tough on noise and the supply/demand of noisy days pushes the price up. If you don’t have a noisy car there are plenty of other donny days/eves through the summer costing slightly less.

Anyway, i guess my point is that this particular day’s fairly/normally priced and tracking an exige is an expensive hobby, to the point where £100 here or there in the cost doesn’t really matter. If cash is that tight don’t go on track.

Just looking into doing a track day at Brands later in the year, and note that there is a £100 price difference for the GP circuit event held by BAT in June (£495) and RMA in July (£399) - both shown on the BAT website.

Not sure why one would be cheaper than the other?
Is there likely to be less service provided by the RMA team, given your comments of paying a premium for fewer numbers usually - the opposite being applied here?

Looks like I’m wrong about RMA, looking at their site they only do silverstone, spa, donnington and brands so nothing budget but they don’t cost as much as i thought. I’ve never used them - put off by the overtaking rules.

From memory the brands GP days were in short supply last year and got booked up pretty fast, maybe the price reflects the relative rarity of these days and the high demand for them.

Feeling that :frowning:

provisionally booked
