Donington Sign on/Instruction/Hotlaps

Hopefully all who’ve booked will have received a letter from Tracksport, requesting that everyone is there & ready for the 7.30am booking on.

The briefing will start at 8.15am PROMPT (please peeps!).

The track will open at 9.00am, & the first half hour will be for novices/new to Donington for familiarisation, behind a pace car with no overtaking. This means that those out in the very first session need to be in their own cars, helmeted & belted up, & lined up in the pitlane at 8.45 prompt, please. After that, it’s “open pitlane” until 5pm, with 1 hour for lunch between 1pm & 2pm (Group photo on pit straight).

Instruction: Start 10am

Free 15 min sessions are available throughout the day with Gareth Lloyd (Tracksport). Gareth was with us at Croft last year, & one of his own cars is a rather quick Escort Cossie (ask SeanB about that!). Gareth has also driven in the Nurburgring 24hour race, on 4 seperate occasions, & finished each time!

Gav Kershaw & Matt Becker - need no introduction! These guys are the top development/test drivers for Lotus, & Gav has of course raced an Exige for some years! 30 min instruction sessions, IN THE MORNING ONLY, are available with Gav & Matt, using your own cars. There will be a charge of 30 per 30 min session with either Gav or Matt.

Hot Rides:

In the afternoon, Gav & Matt will giving Hot Rides (1 out lap, 2 quick laps, & 1 in lap), at a cost of 15 per ride.

Would anyone wanting Instruction with Gav or Matt, please PM me, as there are only 10 x 30 min slots available, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please understand that each of them only has time to instruct 5 peeps, so please don’t ask for an instructor by name - the lucky first 10 names to apply will be drawn from a helmet, & allocated alternatively to either Gav or Matt!!!

I think that’s it for now - except to wish everyone a safe journey to Donington, & I look forward to seeing you all bright & early on Saturday morning

< EDITED IN CASE PEOPLE DON’T READ THE AMMENDMENT THREAD >

I have not booked on the track, but may be tempted into a half day session , do you think it will be possible to book something like this on the day ?

Phil

It would really depend upon final numbers, but as it presently stands, you should be able to just book the afternoon (I’d recommend you have an instruction session (or 2) with Gareth during the afternoon too).

What time is recommended for spectators?

Steve

You & the Boss are welcome from anytime.

Although those booked to drive have first option on the Hot Laps, there may be some slots available - would need to sign on, & pay the 15 of course.

Hope you can make it

Rob. Do we also need to book the hot laps now, if so can you put me down for one with Gav please
Steve

Steve - sorted!

Wouldnt mind putting my name on the hot list as well, numbers permitting.
Cheers Gav

Just spoken to tracksport regarding 1/2 day session, now sorted cheers.

Cheers Rob

Rob,

Can you organise the Fosters Grand Prix girls to be there too? After all the efforts you & the83man have gone to so far it would be a bloody shame not to see 'em at some point in the day.

It’s not for me y’understand…I just don’t want Diane not having anyone to talk to…

Tim.

“Although those booked to drive have first option on the Hot Laps, there may be some slots available - would need to sign on, & pay the 15 of course”.

Mr P: If there are any Hot Lap slots available and it’s not too late and you’re not too busy can you stick my name down for either Matt or Gav.
Thanks,
Thommo

PM sent

Do passengers need to attend the briefing or can they arrive later ?

I’m not sure SWMBO can face the concept of two 6:30s in a day.

Wuss! I know I’m going to see two 5 o’clocks tomorrow!

Mine’s a Mocha when I arrive.

Ian

Don’t worry mate, she can have her own private briefing when she arrives

PS I’ve already packed me biscuit tin
