Holiday Inn booked. Hopefully be there before 8 pm!!
You driving anything John?
Expect not, going for a laugh, as last one of the year I suspect.
Unfortunately, I’m working tomorrow so might not make it till late. If I’m there at a half sensible time, I’ll pop in for a quick pint. If not see you all on Tuesday morning.
Looking forward to it.
Going to be driving up in the morning in the clio, hoping to get some track time if people cancel etc. Otherwise just be along for a laugh and get some miles on the clio
Doh … arriving London Tuesday morning … in London until Wednesday - have a good day
Hoping to get sorted with customer orders by lunch then load up ready fro an early start in the morning.
Been weather watching and it looks ok until about 3.00pm, at which point the rain starts

Ditto
Will be there later with my new lid
Do passengers pay Bookatrack these days?
Do passengers pay Bookatrack these days?
Not looking like it but can somebody please sign me in as one?
No problem. I’ll sign you in Ian.
Everybody get home ok? Nice to see you gents. Everything seemed to be working well at the end of the day, always nice.
You sir are a jinx. Made it home but car currently sitting in pool of its own oily juices. Need to get undertray of to find out what it is. Lost a litre of oil before I set of for home so topped up then it lost another litre on the journey home. Oil pressure all good so no major concern but it’s going to take a bit of cleaning up.
Good to share a garage with you. I tried not to get toasted by the flames coming out of your car on the overrun. Shame about the oil, does not sound too serious. Was the S1 Exige from anyone on here?
I left at about 4pm but it probably dried up?
Keith
Sounds like a good day. Funny to think that a good few exigers were out on circuit yesterday albeit separated by 1000miles!
Get some pics and vids up then!
Hope its something simple with the car Will.
Ben, et al
I took no pictures and there was no BaT photographer. The day was sunny, dry and grippy in the morning with swarms of Cats and some driver experiences in Ginettas, those drivers either learnt very quickly or they changed to race drivers in the afternoon. I am sure it was the latter as I saw a Mr Jamie Stanley behind the wheel.
It started to drizzle and then developed into a monsoon mid afternoon. It then dried out but I had to go. Just Wills Exige and a black S1 Exige for lotus. There was a nice Gt3 CS and a race Aston doing the rounds with a radical or two.
I managed to find some empty track and get some good laps, I am now quite a lot faster in my Academy than my Exige. The Caterham is like a Labrador, wags its tail but does not bite. The Exige is much more likely to bite as it moves about. I still hate the wet so I would not have enjoyed your day. Lots of slides at the old hairpin on my “fuel saver” ditch finder tyres.
Bedford on Monday with the lotus as the bat truck is not available to take the Cat…you have it. I’ll be trying my new Sector 111 gear cables.
Mixed feelings about the day.
I really enjoyed getting the chance to exercise the car again and remind myself what it’s capable of, even with some hefty passengers. Even rain in the afternoon didn’t dampen the enjoyment too much once the standing water had cleared. Great to get the car moving around a bit at more sensible speeds. The oil leak will get sorted and I wasn’t even aware until I was packing up to come home, but I do hold Ian largely responsible for his comments at lunch time about the perceived reliability of my car,
When we started doing this day it was something special, a ‘noisy’ day at Donington, and we had all sorts of exotica out to exploit it along with many Exiges, but what used to be one of the highlights of the year has somewhat lost its lustre. This year unfortunately not so many Exiges, Dave, Chris and myself the only Lotus representatives, with half a credit for Keith. Good meeting you Keith. Special mention to John, Ade, Steve and Ian who all put in appearances even though not driving. 50% of cars out on circuit where either Caterhams, (mixed abilities) or Ginettas, (universally slow in the morning).
Seems a bit of a shame to attend what I’d always regard as a premium day, and then have a large proportion of the cars circulating slower than on a normal day. A big part of Donington for me is being able to ring the car out down the Craners, and if you can’t find space to do that it somewhat blunts the lap. Having said that in the morning track manners were pretty good, in the afternoon once the Ginettas moved to wets and got some pro drivers, less so.
Will I be back? Of course, I don’t get many opportunities to run the car at Donington and I love the circuit so much, but it would be great if there were more of us there. If for no other reason than there would be less pesky Caterhams. Ah… hmmm… LOL. Ok, let me revise that, there would be fewer slow Caterhams.
The day was nearly empty until a couple of weeks ago, then the Ginetta and caterham corporates turned up. I did hear complaints of upto 7 Ginettas on track at the same time. I think the entire bat drift cars set was also on track (6 or more)…and then someone must have realised that it was an Academy race day at the weekend so the academy’s came in force.
It never occurred to me that it was a noisey day, as you say, there was not much exotica. I did like the Porsche, and I do not normally like Porsches.
…forgot, there was a cup360 on track. Mr Seriously I assume.

Yes twas me in the 360 cup.
Really enjoyed my time on track but as already been said there where far to many ‘very slow cars’ on circuit, I love Donington and the run down craners as mentioned by Will.
Sadly I expected the day to be a faster day being the noisy one. Its not cheap at over £300. Doubt ill bother with it in the future (unless we can get lots of Exigers there)
It was great to see all that attended. I must apologise to Ian, the damp track slowed me a fair amount (kitty litter or tyre wall don’t mix well with an almost new Exige cup)
John will agree im sure that the car is a totally different beast to the first visit 3 months ago!!! Its amazing how much the car has improved with some geo work, damper changes and lastly proper brake pads…
Its now just the nut holding the wheel that needs sorting out!!
