What a most excellent day we all had on Saturday !
Thanks to Pesky for arranging it, and thanks to Tracksport for arranging a well run day.
My car ran perfectly other than the brakes which kept overheating … Ducts + AP 4-pots for me I think…
The weather was excellent, and nearly everyone had a fault-free day. Those few who had problems appeared to have plenty of friendly people willing to help. The Edwards Boys excelling themselves as usual too.
The effort people had put into getting their cars to the track on Saturday was impressive too… Chris Lockhart had managed to pull his entire car apart and rebuild it before lunch on Saturday. Mike Lane’s mechanics (MADDOG et al ?) were up til 4am Saturday morning sorting his car. Mich had driven over from Stuttgart in his Exige… The list goes on.
It’s not a gripe, I had too much fun for that, but if I could have changed one thing it would be to have the pit lane marshall not let cars out just as I was approaching the pit lane exit. EEK !
Unfortunately SWMBO fell ill as the day progressed and I wasn’t able to say my goodbyes as I would have liked and couldn’t make the curry
Thanks for the invite to Donnington, and thanks again to all the helpful enthusiasts there on the day. it was a fantastic day out and my car (After the 2 day rebuild) ran faultlessly on the day. Got black flagged for noise but when I was alledgedly lifting on the straight it seemed OK.
A big thangs to CON who supplied a dekat pipe, bolts, gaskets and even a tube of paste in order to fix my friends car, and also thanks to the gent with the blue elise who loaned us his full toolkit, trailer and WD40 !!!
Thanks to Dave for the laps in the balistic Audi Powered missile a real eye opener to what can be done to an elise it was like a Skyline with Class!!!
Very friendly day out, great event well organised…looking forward to the next one.
Chris
P.s has anybody got a shot of My red exige N4NEO, there was someone standing at the S’s B4 the main straight taking photos after lunch. I tried my hardest to take some big kurb especially for the shot !!!
I suspect Benja will sort you out with a pic. If yours was the red one with the funky lights and motorsport roof/cover I’m sure they’ll be some about, as it looks good.
Wow what a great day OK so my car was not ready so I did not drive, but I kept busy chatting, snapping and paxing and had a great time. I really enjoyed my hot laps with Gav (that man has got pace ) but probably enjoyed my hot laps with Steve Edwards even more in the Edwards Honda Beastie knowing that my car is being fettled to a similar standard
Look out for a thread about the photo gallery from Tap and I. We are working to get it out as quick as we can. We should have managed to get shots of everyone.
Glad to be of help.
I felt I should after all your mates car could have ended up being mine. When I bought mine fron Nick Whale there was 5 pre reg’d cars all lined up in a row - 2 of which were black. I ended up with XOA as the last 3 digits of my reg plate and your mates was XOB.
Quite bizarrely I changed my exhaust on Thursday evening just like your mate and developed exactly the same fault - i.e stutter @ 5500 rpm - I was fortunate that the speed sensor wiring was a but dodgy and it held out for the whole day.

Maddog was a great help in getting the new front clam and the rear repaired and both resprayed, but I should point out before they crucify me, that the 4 am team was my son and mechanical mentor Chris, his engineer friend Matt, Matt’s semi-engineer brother John…
Not to mention Steve Maggs (an audi powered elise owner), who stoically moved / supported / held up the front clam in many positions for hours on end.
Mike and I worked on his car until 12:30 on wednesday night.
then SeanB and I spent Thursday and thursday night until 2am and Friday and friday night till 4am getting my car prepared as the car has new everything.
Sean is a Car preparation GOD I would never had got things sorted before Saturday without him, THANKS MATEY!!
