The corners are a very complex combination along with with a mixture of rises and dips, camber dropping away, crests and bumps. through these parts even a well-driven Elise S1 can put on a respectable show. The killers are the steep uphill straight section after the Parabolique and the long uphill section on the main straight this is where the 500bhp+ monsters annihilate you.
I had some fun chasing a Speedster (VX220) Turbo with 260bhp that was running on Yoko slicks:
The downside is the typically Gallic indifference the simple task of trying to get fuel here is enough to make grown men cry. It is almost as if they don’t understand why anyone would want to re-fill!
Great videos, Exige showing what a great track car it is.
The sound inside the car is much different to that experienced outside. Inside the car the whine from the supercharger dominates, expecially at high rpm. Not helped by just having a thin bulkhead between the driver and engine. Outside just the exhaust can be heard and it sounds good for a 4 pot IMHO! I’ve got a GT3 single tip system by Jim Valatine fitted and it sounds and looks great. Its loud too which suits the car if not the neighbours ! But an extra muffler bolted on the end for a track day helps bring the level down.
has anyone ever compiled a set of “samples” of the different engines ? It would be great to hear the audi, honda, duratec, k, toyota, etc plus any other incarnations.
Can I ask if all S2s sound like that, it really doesnt do anything for me at all. Does it sound better when you are driving it ?
Only the ones with the Bemani S/C.
The horrible, tinny, rattling noise is some item vibrating on the floor. There is a screw that is rolling about under the gearchange tunnel I can see it but can’t remove. May ask the dealer to fish it out don’t want to start dismantling the car myself.
The noise of the power unit is not wondrous but, as the performance is good, I’m prepared to accept it.
The sound, with the Bemani sports exhaust, outside the car is certainly better but not as sonorous as other S2 Exige sports exhausts I’ve heard. But then more and more often dB checks are taking place at tracks I prefer being able to drive to having an (over)loud exhaust and getting sent home.

Not sure which Bemani sports exhaust you’re refering to, as Bemani has two, but the louder of both - is definately loud enough to overshadow the noise of the supercharger completely at high revs. Supercharger is still audible at low revs (up to around 3k rpms), after that, it becomes increasingly difficult to make it out.
I love the sound it makes though, lots of bangs and very loud at high revs (easily louder than a stage 2), but at the same time, I’ll probably have quite a bit of difficulties getting mine on track that have strict noise limits.
I’d like to have to pops too and perhaps some flames on over run ! It already has a 3 inch sports cat fitted, any idea how much louder it would make it if I replaced it with a straight thru pipe ? Just gotta watch those noise limits !

Mine is the saner version!

For me, there is no point in having the car if I can’t use it. I’m off to Neuhausen ob Eck on 5th May and the limit there is officially 90dB
Last time I was there, I was about to get a passenger ride in the insanely noisy Lotus West race car when the local community busybody turned up with his decibel meter
I’ve measured 97 dB at 4500 rpm at .5 meter with Jim Valetine GT3 system on Bemani SC toyota. The second silencer drops at best another 7 dB. Its not pretty when fitted but functional, a reasonable compromise tho.
Whilst chatting at that trackday yesterday, I learned that this car is for sale. AFAIK, it’s based on a damaged 240R that got rebuilt with a handy Elise rear clam. The mods mean it is putting out over 300bhp. Reliably, so they claim. Price IRO CHF130,000 I believe but only got that from another customer of theirs and not sure if it’s right.
Oh and it rained all day which wasn’t too good with still new Yokos on the front!
Nothing to do with Dijon, but we’re already off topic!
Steve,
If you look closely in the second picture you can see that the intercooler is mounted in the horizontal plane with the supercharged air inlet/outlet connections either side.

Hey speedyK, nice vides, nice drive. I must go to Dijon this year. the track looks very good!
and maybe we met us in Tuttlingen with Team-Eichmann.ch on 19th of May? Ill be there with my KT250s EXIGE.
