Some more pics of the Europe if anyone interested!!!
The wheels look better. Now if only they can sort the bodywork & engine…
Tim.
Agree Tim, wheels and colour do make a difference
I really want to like this car - perhaps it will look better in the flesh?
Interesting, it doesn’t look like it has a flat undertray.
Ian
Am I pissed or does it just look like an S2 exige with a couple of minor panel changes???
The wheels look better.
Ah, but they are the same 17" diameter with 175 section tyres as the VX. Obviously this is deliberate failsafe understeer being deemed preferable to risking oversteer, as the potential buyers may not be all so used to mid-engined cars.
Trouble is, if you do want better/wider rubber, you have probs with 17" fronts as you can’t get it for these rims and especially if the ABS is calibrated for 17"so you can’t just slap 162ers on. This was an issue with the VX.
not a fan. In fact, i think it looks ridiculous.
They canned the M250 and went on to design this pile of junk instead…
I cant wait to see what the esprit replacement looks like
I agree, why go to all the trouble of designing the M250 which looked great, to then spend further time and money to develop it into the cr*p car we see now? If you are looking to buy a car for 33k it would have to be exige or boxster, why would you want to buy this?
I think Lotus have missed a golden opertunity with this car…why have they made another 2 seater. If they wanted to appeal to a different sort of customer they should made it a 2+2.
I heard at the weekend that they’ve made it easier to get into than an Elise/Exige by making the side beam lower…but wider! So to driver the comfortable (read - fat boys) Lotus you have to be slimmer!?
Since this topic has been reinvigorated I have to say that I utterly agree with AndyK,
Why, Why, Why did they make another 2 seater, theyve put it directly into the line of fire of the Better value 350z, and the really very pretty Boxster. With that styling it hasnt a chance . Also, come to think of it, to some extent it’s also in competition with the Elise.
The market is ripe for a swish 2+2, especially with the current M3 heading for retirement soon.
Ah well maybe theyll like it over the pond
David
But they won’t fit David!
, hehe
Ah well maybe theyll like it over the pond
It’s not going to the States though is it?

We certainly hope not but if it does, we’ll likely send it back!

Looks like there’ll be no “extraordinary rendition” from either side of the pond!
Quoted from Lotus website:
[color:“red”]Production of the Lotus Europa S is scheduled to commence in July 2006 at the award winning* manufacturing facility at the Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk, UK. The Europa S will be sold in all markets where the Lotus brand is present, except for the USA and Canada. [/color]
LOL! Says something when you have to brag about the production facility.
