Decat

I bought a decat from Jim a few months ago and can’t decide whether to fit it or not.

I already have the 8x22 back box which sings a nice note and I would love to hear it decatted because i’ve heard people say they sound amazing… but i’m not sure if I can be bothered with all of the faffing around with O2 adapters and mil eliminators etc

I am aware that trackdays are a no no!

However, short term aural pleasure for a few months does appeal to me

What shall I do?

I have a decat with no light problems, get your self one of these

Then for me I added on another 1/2 inch spacer and it seems to be enough to get rid of the light

As for trackdays you depends where you go but should get by at some places like blyton and Anglesey

It does sound better with the decay you get some more bangs with the odd flame and if its to loud for you there is always the silenced decat

it will limit your trackdays, but they are an easy swop out for places like donny, I can only do noisy days there now, but mine is super loud

Thanks for the link Mill, much appreciated. Will one of those adapters do the job of the eliseparts mil eliminator? How long does it take for the ECU to learn the new parameters?

Fitting mine tomorrow night as the 8x22 GT3 is waaay too quiet for me!

My decat comes with a MIL “elbow”, which moves the sensor further away.

This thread may also help you

Never used the Elise parts kit but looking at it that should work if you don’t mind cutting into the cables on the sensor

It took a hundred miles or so to bring my light on then I fitted the extra spacer (think it was actually 1 inch and not 1/2 inch) then used a fault code reader to reset it and it never came back on
