As it was a nice day today I thought I would take the car and grab some lunch, anyhow whilst out I got an explosion of water all over the windsreen (at first I thought someone has thrown something). I could not pull over so had to run it for about 60 seconds or so and watched the temp get to around 105deg, I am guessing thats not high enough to do any damage?
Had to get towed home, you realise how many C***s there are in the world when you are being towed. I’m now sad at home feeling sorry for myself, its going to be the hottest week of the year and I have no Lotus
Is it just the radiator hose popped off or is it the end tank? Is there a way of getting to it through the wheel arch liner? I dunno, i’ve never tried.
Other people are a bit annoying. I remember when I was filling up with petrol one day and a bloke and his missus pulled up behind in a giant pick-up truck with a trailer on the back, leant out the window and hollowed “Swap cars for 5 minutes mate” to which I replied “we’ll see in a minute”. After paying the thing wouldn’t start so I bounded over and took him up on his offer as I could tow my car home in 5 mins flat. The bloke just gawped at me, wound his windows up, then reversed out of the petrol station and buggered off whilst his missus laughed at him!
The git!
Luckily some passing drunks gave me a push and it started off that.
Get an ally one from Pro Alloy and your life will be good again. If you need someone to fit it, give John at JSRacing a call, we should be able to fit it in for you.
Sean…
The car is still under warranty but if its the rad I’ll have an upgraded one fitted I think.
Where would the hose pop off? its the drivers side where the coolant came from but on that side you can see the hose and clip and it looks ok, is there a point lower down? I can see the air vent and then it seems to elbow down from there, I cant really see past the elbow though.

Normally its the plastic end tank that comes away from the ally core. They are only pressed together and not very good in all honesty. An all ally rad is obviously all welded together so is a lot more durable.
Is this a common occurance?
Its not un common lets put it like that, I cant see the passenger side hose without pulling the wheel liner back and could not be bothered tonight (may do tomorrow) everything on the drivers side looks ok but thats were all the coolant was so I am guessing it must be the rad…
I just cant see how the other hose could go with out putting coolant on that side but I guess we will see.
Almost hoping it is the rad as I’ll have a stainless tow bar fitted while the clams off and I can off set the cost of a std rad against an upgraded one which should not blow.

If it’s under warranty, souns like Lotus will foot the bill for the labour then.
Just to confirm it is the rad, pretty shocking really at 18 months and 9k miles. I have ordered the Lotus sport triple pass ally rad
Is it a failure (crack or similar) or corrosion? Poor doo’s either way
I am guessing failure mate, it did look fine, no signs of corrosion.

God I am missing my car
Just got mine back …great job done by JSRacing tho!
Patience mate
Well its taking longer than I thought as the Lotus sport rad only arrived later on today having the stainless tow eye bar fitted while the clam is off so hopefully will all be worth it, every cloud and all that.

I got my car back!! feels great to be back in it again, lotus now paint the alloy rads black with is currently giving off a smell of burning paint but never mind, shes back and thats all that matters!
Good news mate
Yep, you dont realise how much you miss them till you dont have it and cant drive it. Makes me think I’ll never sell.
CN’s had some cracking dashboard bling in too, full leather trim Pesky would fill his bag if he saw it
