Damage during servicing

Would appreciate your comments…

9 day old car in for service yesterday which involved some warranty work during which the aluminium crossmember in front of seats was scratched on both drivers and passengers side - I have complained and dealer has admitted ‘mistake’. Obviously the section cannot be replaced however I understand it can be ‘touched in’.
Over and above any rectification (which I doubt will be 100%) should I expect anything else?

Photo’s? Just how bad is it?

Obviously that type of damage is unacceptable, as it cannot be repaired to make it as before. What is being proposed by way of repair?

At least the dealer has admitted it, which is a start.

Don’t let them loose on it until you know exactly what they plan. Push for the service being free. Can the factory offer any advise on repair (although they may not want to get involved in this type of accident).

Good luck with it.

Tim.

Just seen your other post.

If paint is the answer, the match will need to be perfect, & not a ‘coverall’ across the whole ali section. I’d want to see a sample (not on the car tho’) of the intended repair before they attempt it for real. Keep the repair to the minimum (e.g. the damaged rib(s) only).

Deja vue with Tony Thompson and damage to his chassis rail…

bbaastaads…

my pax side got scratched during a service a while back and I didn’t push it hard enough at the time because I could see there was nothing they could do really but you should push for financial recompense of some nature (cost of service free or somesuch). You should also ask Lotus for advice.

The dealer will just shrug shoulders unless you get them to pay something, they need motivated to improve the attention span of their monkeys…
