I have an engine on the dyno with an ultralight flywheel that has a dogtooth arrangement rather than the conventional slot with holes on the standard flywheel. In other words the flywheel is smaller diameter with the teeth at the same diameter as the slot on the normal K flywheel. The location and number of teeth is identical to the normal K arrangement.
We cannot get the Emerald to work and it reports CPS errors, depsite changing the CPS and the wiring.
Is the CPS really that critical? Are there different kinds of CPS around that work with this kind of arrangement. Would having the CPS on the outside of the flywheel rather than being “enclosed” within the slot make that much difference to the field it is detecting?
Any ideas …
