The dashboard trim above the radio/heater has become corroded resulting in the “plastic” coating peeling off.
A…how do I control the corrosion and
B …where can I get it recoated??
PS dont like the H 111 Alcantara covering.
Well tell you… but only if you post some more pics of your GT40 first
David
Sadly its not mine…this one was at Goodwood revival auction and turned out to be a GTD40 so a sham…but very nice all the same…
I had an original 40 years ago but thats another story.!!!The Exige is far more fun for the bucks…
do you also know how to stop the corrosion recurring??
Perhaps after seeing these pix you will also do the job for me…PS can arrange an introduction but it was 40 years ago!!!

I’m trying hard to imagine the area and finish that you are talking about…but failing miserably - what about a photo so we can see what you are on about?
Does this help??[image]http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c165/cliveagyoung/lotusdashcorrosion003.jpg[/image]
I think Lotus call it a Senotex coating if that helps any.
OK know what you mean now.
I know there has been quite alot of talk on the 340R group with regard to their finish, but i’m not certain that it is the same?
Clive
Is that your silver car?
No mate its the “rusty” orange job…
No mate its the “RussT” orange job…

with regard to 340r’s. I am having some of my trim bit’s repainted and this is in a special silver paint that has to be mixed and made up, no paint code as such! My dash is alcantara, so no probs there!
I am trying to think back to my old exige, was it not just a thin layer of plastic stuck down? Can the dash be removed? is so get it out and get it painted, it is not an place that should see much wear and tear so should be fine to get painted I would have thought!
Clive,
give Trckster a shout here or on SELOC as he has got his 3 guage pods painted in the coating that is peeling off your dash. Sure he’ll be able to give you the contact details.
Con McL.
Yvo on SELOC has some paint used to coat the twin gauge pods he sells. Might be worth asking him.
Alternately get them covered in alcantara
I think Lotus call it a Senotex coating if that helps any.
SENOTEX, a high quality two pack waterbased paint which is characterised by its suede like surface.
SENOTEX is used to finish pillars, trim, glove compartment linings and speedometer cases where a reflection free surface is beneficial. More HERE
There’s more on a thread from MLOC web page
Thanks Guys for all the info . Should be able to refurb now.
Cheers
Yep the stuff is senotex, I have mine painted by the same company thats does them for Lotus, so did Yvo when he had his done, I’ll post their details once I’ve checked with 'em but as it may give them extra business I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. They will have a min cost involved so a group painting would be worthwhile …but you need to sand the panels down first.
These guys make the paint for Lotus
Weilburger Schramm Coatings
and 200 will buy you 5 litres of it plus vat and so on …the painters are dif company
