Can anyone give me an idea at what temp the colant fan under the rad is supposed to cut in? Got stuck in a traffic jam in Auckland on Monday and the stack displayed 102 C and i got worried so i bailed out on a slip road. Does thi men the sender unit may be buggered? Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks

If it’s the same as the Elise then the fan is supposed to cut in at 102 degrees, having said that on my Exige (got stuck in Auckland traffic too), my fan cut in at 99 degrees. Bear in mind the Stack has a different temp sensor to the ECU (again, provided it’s the same as the Elise, which it should be since it runs a MEMS ECU).So the temp the ECU (which controls the fan) sees, is different to the one which makes the temp display on the dash, meaning that it’s possible that your Stack could be +/- 5 degrees or so relative to the ECU temperature.
Bear in mind, if the ECU sensor is buggered, the fan SHOULD fail-safe and be running permanently.
First thing I’d do if I was you would be to test the fan by bridging the relay to make sure your fan actually runs (they’re known to seize), other than that, replace both the temp sensors (cheap, easy and good for peace-of mind).
At 102 you shouldn’t have done any damage, that’s still at the upper end of the “normal” temperature… they reckon you only need to panic when you start seeing temps of 110-115+ as that’s way beyond where the fan should be cooling things down.
FWIW I was actually rather surprised how well-behaved (temperature-wise) the Exige was relative to my old Elise.
Oh, and my car passed compliance with flying colours!.. I pick her up today
Congrats.
As for the fan. Mine also cuts in at about 98deg on the stack.

Fantastic news - enjoy, enjoy, enjoy
Jez … Fan is programmed to cut in at 102 o mine does it all the time in UK traffic jams…
Geary has an override switch which seems a good idea unless you go Emerald which can be programmed to your needs…
HAVE FUN down under
Sorry to jump in on the thread but - where is the relay for the fan as I want to test mine as I think the fan might have failed
