Had a new radiator fitted at Nick Whale 2 weeks ago (warranty job). Just back from a 500 mile weekend trip and I can see a small pool of coolant on the garage floor slightly further back from the radiator (driver side).
Can I check for any loose clips or connections or should I just take it back to the dealer? It’s not the top jubliee clip from the radiator.
If its not the top end of the radiator inlet hose then it could be the bottom end. Failing that they have either damaged the hose or the radiator!
As a final thought, i don’t suppose it could have been a residual pool that leaked into the car when they swapped the old one out and has just started leaking onto the floor?
Can you see any difference in the height of the coolant in the header tank?
Definitely coolant. Tastes absolutely rank. I’m still looking for that aircon, Brendan - where have you hidden it?
Coolant level is slightly lower. Will get it up on ramps tomorrow and have a look. Seems to be leaking from one of the two holes in the undertray. I can’t see it being residual coolant as I’ve just had a 3 night stop in the Lakes and it wasn’t on the floor before I went.
Ok - it may be worth checking the hoses on the other side also, they may be weeping and the coolant is running across the inside of the undertray before sitting the floor on the offside?
I had this on mine, you can get to the drivers side with out a problem but the n/s needs the clam off. The hoses don’t have to be pushed on all the way because they will leak. When you do the hose clips up, don’t do them to tight because they will pinch the hose. Would be best to get some decent new clips aswell.
Just as a conclusion, heater matrix was replaced by dealer and picked the car up today.
On the way home the car was overfuelling much more than usual, popping and banging every time I took my foot off the accelerator. Would this be the ecu running a bit rough after being disconnected (I presume it is disconnected when replacing the heater matrix)?
They won’t have disconnected the ECU, but they will have almost certainly had to remove the battery to replace the matrix, so effectively the same thing…
However, overrun fuel shutoff is controlled by a second rear wheel speed sensor on the Lotus 190ECU I think? (Not used on an Emerald). Worth checking that this has not come adrift, although they shouldn’t have been anywhere near that.
Popping and flames are fun, but will soon muller your cat. Remind me to keep my distance at Silverstone on Thursday!
Just out of interest, is there anyway of reseting the standard ECU. I heard something about 5 pumps on the throttle, get out and run around the car 3 times then push the washers.
If there is a problem with the ECU rear-wheel speed sensor expect other gremlins like 5500 revlimit (sometimes only after you have been over 5500 in 3rd) and refusal to idle, as well as pops, bangs, farting and flames.
Pop over and say hello on thursday Alex. Apologies in advance if I hold you up on track, I’m not usually the slowest but us girlies seem to have more sense of self preservation that you guys.
My mate said he spotted a hot bird in a yellow S1 Exige on the M42 yesterday doing about 60mph in the slow lane. Does anyone know who this could have been???

I’ll be sure to pop over and say hi to you and Steve at some point during the day.
Hope your Exige will be running OK.
