Considering a forge intercooler? eBay finishes 7pm

not mine but someone on here might want it!

eBay Linky

i saw this on ebay, would it make much of a difference ?

It will help a bit to remove heat soak, also remove the roof and make the hole in the rear clam bigger to allow more air from the roof scoop as well. There is also a mod to add a heat shield under the IC which helps as well, you won’t get much more power you just keep it longer especially in the summer
If you have a single strut engine cover you will probably have to take it off or it fouls the IC.

It does indeed make a very noticable improvement …
I’ve not had heat soak since fitting a Forge about a year ago …
Gone are the flat spots that occurred after every gear change…This felt like a big turbo car spooling down on each gearchange.
I reckon I’ve gained a few Bhp (not measured it tho).Perhaps I,ve just recouped all the BHP that was supposed to be there in the first place
As Ade says , also open up the “letterbox” for better airflow.
I,ve also fitted a bigger scoop.
It all helps ,and , the result in my experience is fantastic…

Get it bought !!!

Just to point out that it says development intercooler, Forge tested a few different core designs so just like one that was sold earlier its entirely possible that what you are buying is not the finished product.
I have no doubt it will be better than standard though.

I was put off bidding, when a statement appeared saying that the vendor was away until 25th jan 2010 and dispatch would be delayed!

I tried to contact the vendor for clarification but got no reply. The next day the statement had been removed so I decided against bidding. Probably missed a bargain but there are always bargains to be had without the uncertainty.

I’ve got a new forge intercooler sitting in a box in the passage. Am very much looking forward to fitting it.

Also, are there any threads regarding making the “letterbox” bigger. Some pictures etc would come in handy.

Did you buy it from forge? I did a thread on fitting mine and opening up the mail slot, I’ll dig it out.

There you go…

Jay I opened up the letterbox using the dremel;

Some have gone further removing some of the rubber seal but I did not want to run the risk of leaks

I have just read Boothys thread and found it very informative, thanks for posting the link.

yes mate. Order’d it direct. There were a few on Ebay…Some for 610…some for 750. I wanted to make sure i got the genuine forge one so i order’d direct. It was cheaper aswell.

Just started looking at your thread and on page 2 i came accross this…

Edit to add, I dont really want to go the twin strut route as my last exige S had them and I had it changed to single strut as the boot lid fitted like a prick in a shirt cuff.

Mine has twin struts…and i will say…it also fits shit. Do you think this is the issue? Its been bugging the hell out of me but with the weather i havent had chance to look at it yet or try to adjust it. It sticks up alot more on the passenger side than drivers but i wondered if it could be adjusted.

Sadly you can’t really adjust the problem away, the twin strut design bends the engine cover which makes it stick up, I got lotus to change mine un warranty a long time ago to the single design. this then hit the intercooler and dented it. I now don’t wrry as I have a charge cooler and the engine mounts have been sorted as well.

Yep Ade is 100% correct, I had the twin struts replaced on my last exige S but as the single strut does not fit with the Forge I now run without one on the new car anyway. Its not that big of a ball ache tbh but you can but a prop rod off RLS in the states.
