confusion

[color:“green”] [/color] HI, i’m a new member and only 15; however i still love to drive (in the field). Now when i think of my future it mostly consists of what car i will own, i’m a mahoosive lotus fan (and i mean HUGE) always loved em, and always will. But a problem has arisen, i have fallen in love with both the Lotus Exige and Caterham 7!!! So i need help, i expect some biast opinions about the Exige but anything will help. Cheers

what’s the problem - have the Exige for the road and smooth track work; and the Caterham for very sunny road work and hooning on the track…

If only the Exige had a g/box as good as that in a Caterham Superlight…

Exige is safer and you can take it out in the rain.

Ian

ps. Mr Admin we may need a specific section for our teenage brethren soon!

Well exige is the obvious 1 for me because i love lotus so much. my dad has a Elan +2 and Elan M100 S2 so i go to all the shows ect. but it’s just the price, the caterhams are cheaper by a long way on occasions. Either way can’t wait for one!!

WOW, kids today man!! fair play aspiring to an Exige as your first car!!

When I was a lad of 16, my asperation was the 50 Mk1 Escort that was for sale three streets away. It was a rolling shell and the rest came in several assorted carrier bags. Me and half a dozen mates pushed it round to my house after I had handed over about two years paper round money.

My Mom went mental when she got home from work and saw it on the drive. lol

Ahhh those were the days!!!

I still remember the reg too, TUY904L

i never said i wanted it as my first car I WISH!! no my first car might be a MG Midget modified to look good with nice wheels ect. due to the low cost of buying and insuring them. And it’s a rear wheel drive 2 seater so what more would i want. (except exige)

An Exige is more of a dream car, a first car, no way (unless you have a very generous relative that is)

Im eyeing up a Ford Ka (and yes Im prepared for the ensuing hairdresser and girl car cracks). The way I see it its a nippy, fun little car with decent handling, but more importantly its cat 2 insurance which is why the Midget is utterly out of the question, I had a look at what it would cost to insure, just for fun ( yes I know thats sad ) its extortionate, I mean really and truly extortionate .

(By the way welcome to lotus lad)

David

Save up your money, work hard and get your no clamis bonus built up and you will be fine. i am 20 and own an S1 Exige and VW Polo and it is the worth the wait and they cash i through at it!

forgot to say, welcome mate

Nath,

Just out of interest what do you do ?

I think about what I want to do with my life constantly, and, now that Ive passed through the Mummy I want to be a car designer phase, and got over wanting to be the next Jock Clear, I figure that property is where Im heading, I find architecture fascinating, and although I want to go into the developing side (ie: the money making side) I figure you may as well work with something that interests you.

I also dont like the idea of making money for other people (in other words being employed), at least not in the long term anyway.

But an Exige by 20, good on you mate !

David

Don’t knock the Ka, I’m interested in chopping my Puma (station car) for a Sports Ka. Apparently half the racing drivers hired to drive them at the launch asked to by one!

Ian

By no means knocking it, if I didnt like it why would I want one

I just know that some unenlightened folk give it a hard time.

David

Chaps

The Ka is now really past it’s “buy by date”. Twas a great little mota, & we ran one for 4 years. However, we’ve now got 2 Peugeot 107s (same as Toyota Aygo & Citroen C1, all being made at the same plant). Decent little 3 cylinder Toyota petrol engine, mid 50s mpg, group 1 ins, & 45 a year for road tax Will chug along at 70 to 85mph on the Mway, doddle to park PLUS available in either 3 door or 5 door guise

Thank god I’ve the Exige for some real fun though

chug along at 70 to 85mph

Pah ! Pathetic, my brother has done 95 in his Ka

Glad you made that closing statement, you were beginning to sound old!

Ermm, who was talking about max speed? Anyway, time you were you tucked in bed reading Winnie the Pooh

Nah, Im just getting in some last minute revision, Exams tomorrow, eek!!!

In that case, best of luck, & sweet dreams

Thanks…I think

I am a Surveyor Dave, so in the construction industry. architecture is fascinating, But to get to where you want to be you have to work dam hard at uni for about 5/6 year. Go for it if you can stick it. I am doing my degree part time/day release, it hate home work but I get the best of both worlds as I get paid to! I always think, I could die tomorrow so if you can do it why not do what you want to do
