Con McL - Very Sad News

Shocking, sad and sobering in equal measure. Disgraceful that it takes an incident like this to remind you just how precious life is. Thoughts are with Beth and the family.

Jonny

What incredibly sad news!

Somehow he was always one of the first to be shaking your hand at a meet with a big grin and some humour. Even when things went wrong he took them in his stride and was more than happy to help anybody.

His stories of pushing his car out the drive and down the road before starting it so not to wake the neighbours both made me smile and spoke of the sort of top bloke he was.

I can’t quite believe I am using the past tense.

Ian

I’m shocked and saddened by this news. There’s nothing more to say, for now. RIP.

my condolences to his family

RIP.

Like so many other I’m deeply saddened by this news.

Its hard for me to imagine turning up at an exiges event and not getting a jibe from Con about my white wheels (that I took off years ago) or my legendary fertility, and returning the banter by reminding him of his red-caliper saga or the groaning shelves or carbon tat he’d acquired but never fitted.

Thoughts are with Beth and Con’s family but hopefully they’ll take some solace in knowing that Con was universally liked and respected by everyone he met in our community.

Con was one of life’s good guys and I’m proud to say that he was my mate.

Red callipers… :frowning: oh man…this really is terribly sad

Really terrible news.

Vicky and I send our deepest condolences to Cons family.

Oh no, that’s really awful news. He’ll be sadly missed, and I don’t know what to say. That’s brought a tear to my eyes and I only met him a handful of times. My thoughts go out to his wife and family.

RIP Con.

Our cars were identical twins, well almost  and that was the joke … Typical Con, always humour, always positive … even when I was blowing up his Peugeot hire car engines …

An Exiges original who will be greatly missed.

RIP Con

A very sad day indeed.

RIP Con…

Mark

Wow…dont know what to say really… very very sad, RIP Con, one of the original exigers.

Chris

Utterly shocking news. Never met him but he stood out from his postings on here. So sad when a fellow Exiger passes away, especially when they’re taken well before their time.

R.I.P. and my sincerest condolences to his family and friends :frowning:

Extremely sorry to hear this. Thank you for posting Giles, it is a truely heartbraking thing to have to do. My thoughts and prayers to Con’s family and close friends.

Terrible :frowning: R.I.P

I lost my Dad on the 22nd December 2011 and we had the funeral this Thursday just gone, he was only 65. I’d like to think that where ever they ended up my Dad was their to greet him and chat about the cars and the time I took my Dad around Silverstone when Dad shouted “Bloody hell Michael, your gona roll it”. My responce was “Dad this is the warm up lap”.

I never met Con but he sounded like a great bloke like the rest of you. I know it’s a sad time but chin up friends and family and remember the things that made you smile about a great guy.

Also couldn’t believe it when I got the call last night. As everyone has said, he was a true gent and it was an honour to know him.

RIP

A very sad day indeed, there is nothing I can say that hasn’t been said already and I know from my time talking with him that every good word is true, one of the most genuine, caring and fun loving people I have met. He will be missed at every Exiges.com event in the future.
It goes without saying that I will help with anything the family needs or wants if I possibly can.
I realise it might be impossible, but when arrangement have been made I will try my hard to make it and pay my respects.

RIP Con
