When I had this done on mine, it showed 25% on cyl 3… that was losing me loads of power and using oil… New liner and rings to 3 sorted that one out!
Just completed a compression test to see if it revealed any clue to my high oil consumption.
Engine Hot BAR figures 1= 10; 2= 9 ; 3= 10; 4= 10. 5=
So variation not bad.
BTW opening throttle only made .5 increase so does not seem significant.
Am I just being paranoid about it??
As Pete says a cylinder leakage test will give you a better indication of the degree of wear/damage to your pistons/liners.
Have you read the Des Hammill book about he history of the K? it is quite damming about Rover’s handling of the known problem and quite frankly if this is how they ran all of the business they deserved to fail. Shame for the employees though. No doubt the bosses got a good hand - out for failure.
NOW please tell me how to do a Leak Down test
Thanks

The Des Hammill book is more about shock factor to sell some books than truth at times. He picks up on small insignificant points and claims they were full on disasters, a number of the Rover ‘experts’ he says helped him didn’t even work on engines.
