Composite Worx SP-1 Seats

Last month I decided to order a set of Composite Worx SP-1 carbon seats to replace the standard Probax ones in my Exige S. The SP-1 seats from Composite Worx come in single or twin skin carbon or carbon kevlar. The seats are based on the original Exige seat so the dimensions are very similar. Not only are the SP-1’s awesome looking but they come with an adapter that makes them a direct replacement onto the stock rails.

Prices start at 499 euros (discount available for Lotus Drivers Club members) with additional options for twin skin, suede covers, dress up kit and Lotus specific brackets. I opted for the suede padding in black with orange stitching and custom Exige logo, along with the orange dress up kit to finish them off. The ordering process and communication with Michele at Composite Worx was top notch. Orders are estimated to take 2-3 weeks but mine took a little longer due to the custom covers. Shipping was super quick and after receiving them Monday morning, I couldn’t resist taking a day to fit them.

Here’s the results!

Seats look fantastic Chris.

I hope you only took the roof off to fit the seats!!!

hahaha, I was warned this comment would come!
Indeed, the roof had to come off to get the seats in, but I suppose that doesn’t excuse me for taking it for a drive afterwards without it on

They look great!

They look fantastic

Did you notice a big difference in the weight over the Probax seats?

Looks great, i saw many bought their seats in US lotustalk and well satisfy with the quality.

They are noticeably lighter! I believe the Exige probax are 17 lbs, and the Composite Worx seats are 6.5 lbs (single skin) and 7.2 lbs (twin skin).

Yes, I have seen nothing but positive reviews from the topic on lotustalk, which is what led me to buying a set to review.

Do the fit the standard runners? Do you need to modify them? The Reverie ones I have sound a similar weight but modifying the seat runners was a little painful

If you buy them with the Lotus specific bracket, the seats come with the bolts in the bottom of the seat, the same as the OEM ones, and fit straight onto the original bracket. You do need to drill 4 holes in the sides to secure the bracket to the seats. These are not pre-drilled by Composite Worx as the brackets can differ slightly by model and year.

It makes you wonder what the profit margins are like for Reverie and Tillet…

I’d be interested to see one side by side with my Reverie, as at first glance the construction looks different, as the Mulsanne is hollow with captive nuts in the side etc.

Can’t argue with the price though.

I’ll be at Silverstone on Sunday for the Classic, parked up with LDC, if anyone’s interested in having a look

does the price reflect they’ve not been crash tested?

no idea, just asking

They are currently doing a TUV certification which from what I understand will guarantee that the seats are 100% fit for purpose.

Very cool, they look the business.

I don’t need new seats, but seeing them makes me want new seats! Very nice indeed! :sunglasses:

They look very good for the money, I don’t like the idea of drilling holes though, I can see where some of the extra cash for the Reverie seats comes from withe the bonded fixings.
Would I have a set if I didn’t already have mine? Probably as the price point is excellent

I keep seeing their updates on FB and am really keen on a pair of these. Any updates on the comfort front? All very well saving a few kg’s but don’t want my precious bum suffering the consequences…

We have done several long trips in them now and can confidently say that they are comfortable enough for long drives but also have much better support than what I was getting out of the original Probax seats. I know a few of you on here have seen these first hand now and have also been impressed.

here we go again, more money going into the car then lol

You had any passengers 6,2 and 220lbs? how did they fit ?
