Does anyone out there have a similar problem with a cold draft around their feet whilst bombing along? My elise had it a bit but I could overcome it with the heater, the Exige is another matter altogether. I have had a quick look and all of the plates etc are in the correct position and there are no visible gaps, I am flumoxed to say the least.
On another note, the great big air intake for the engine I presume should attach to the air intake vent in the body work. I noticed that mine had come adrift and it looks like a b’stard to get back on, any tips?
I don’t know if you remember my post about the engine temp getting very hot and no cooling fan etc etc, got it back from the dealer yesterday, it was a knackered fan, 760 later everything is now ok and running like a dream
Cold feet - bloody awful in winter!! Cure = blank off the “holed” areas in both footwells, where the air enters the cabin. I use an old cut down number plate, which I fix with velcro, so I can remove them in summer - cheap & easy fix.
Air intake - don’t worry, it is not fixed to intake vent at the factory. However, many of us have in fact connected it up - you need to buy some flexible ducting (B&Q?), & silicone fix it to the vent first.
Cooling fan 760 - Jeez, how much for parts, & how much for labour?

I just put some 4 inch bodge tape over the holes - getting down into the footwells to stick it on is good exercise for someone of my age and weight!
I have already tried the ‘Taping up the holes exercise’ but it seems to be coming from much higher up, top left and top right of the footwell. I can cope with it but the misses moans about it, hang on…I think I have just stumbled across the solution i’ll keep you posted with this one.
Back to the cooling fan, there are two different types according to the spec book at the dealer, one for cooling and for Con Air (which is also used if the water temp is very high) One is 80, and t’other is 43, when my baby was stripped to the flesh they found that the spec book is wrong and the two fans are the same, naturally it would have to be the 80 item Re-gas of Con Air 169. Total Labour charge was 322 ish, All this plus VAT.
Just called the dealer 'cus I had asked them to look into Cold feet syndrome whilst the front clam was off, nothing un-toward was found, the saga continues.
I’ve done so much work to bring the engine bay (and therefore cabin) temperatures down that it’s… too cold now!
I was thinking about the same today, heater to the max and the temp was barely mild. My feet were cold as well.
But I have no drafts in there, the only air coming is from the vent, which is regulated by the vent levers.
If I want no air in, I move the top lever towards “top” and close the top vents by hand.
No air comes in.
If I want a little bit of air (to my feet), I move it slightly to the left, top vents still closed. If I need a bit more towards the windscreen, I open the top vents accordingly. Get my drift?
I have a non Con Air aequipped car, I have to say. It might be different for those, but there must be a way.
Are you sure that there is nothing like a hose loose or something like that?
I managed to increase the temp today only by getting stuck in traffic. That brough the engine temp up to 75deg (it was running happily in the motorway at 60 ) that made the heater work better.
So it was finally vent to “down” and full hot. Niiice!

Does the plate say P3SKY?

Also B&Q but diferent here.
Get a 5" diam, PVC pipe (from the ventilation section), about 7" long and fit it to the end of the trunking. I used heavy duty foam to adapt it (fill the space) to the hose. Then just place it over the scoop. It is held in place there by the scoop inside the pipe.
No problems. Makes the engine feel more powerful as well

I like the sound of this one, I think I’ll give it a go this weekend
On the other hand I could always pipe the air getting into the cabin through to the engine!! 2 birds with one stone so to speak!!
Ah, remember, this way the cone filter is at the airbox end, not at the trunking end (of course).
Then the hose is held down to the foam and pipe by one of the metallic clips.
I’ve actually got a really noticable draught coming in between the door and the sill. I’m wondering if it comes from the drainage hole in the lower part of the door just above the weather seal. Or maybe the seal’s just crap.
Mr Pesky, As a result of your help I have finally resolved the cold feet syndrome, you were right about the holes in the footwell, its just that i was too busy driving to find the true cause. Anyway I have made some plates to cover the holes and all is well. If i knew how to put a picture on this site I would, any clues
Upload it to www.bookatrack.com as a gallery, copy the full address line when your photo is on the page, and then start your message / post and click URL which is one of the instant UBB codes and go from there…
Bought some aluminium from a local metal dealer, took some photo’s of the Lotus and Exige stickers on the back of the car, printed them out, scanned them in to MAC and used ‘sticker cutting machine’ to cut the text, used reflective sticker for effect, turned out better than I expected. Bit of Velcro and hey presto, warm feet
