Tried to get a replacement coil pack today, Bosch Number 0221503001, after I tried my local parts supplier he pointed me towards the Bosch dealer who wanted �330+vat
Elise parts cannot supply as they dont have a supplier
I think I could use the equilvent Opal 90443900 or 90449572 from a Vectra ?

It’s the same as the Calibra IIRC about �100
Just about any 3 pin coilpack will do the job, but as stated the Calibra/Cavalier/Vectra is ideal. A quick trip to a local scrapyard may turn one up in good order.

Tis none of those unfortunately. The VHPD uses a coilpack with a single ECU input and 4 high tension terminal outputs.
Geary has been a bit optimistic with his compatibility list…

so we should be able to narrow it down to a chassis number or at least a batch…of course being Lotus there will always be a few exceptions to the rule!

I posted up somewhere (search coilpack or coil pack) some details… but there is an Alfa Romeo/Fiat aftermarket part that you can get for about �40-�50 and it works a treat.

Motaquip VCL625 does the job but you need to switch plug leads 2 with 1 and 3 with 4 to make it work - because the LT plug is connected the wrong way round for us… cost me �41 for one in April… but the really good thing is you will get one from ANY motorfactor. Comes from a Punto or Alfa 1.8 i think.’

If its just a 3 pin wasted spark coil pack you are after then QED Motorsport sell them for about the 50-quid mark. Sagem units iirc.

If anyone is looking for a “Lotus” one, a chap on the 340R group has posed that he’s just got one from Paul Matty in Bromsgrove (off the shelf) for @ �100.
Just converted mine to run on a Ford coil pack, Availaible everywhere, brand new for �18 and it gives a bigger bang for ya buck, with a quicker recharge time. Its a three wire coil, but the plug is different, but very easy to change over to the ford plug.
That has to be worth knowing Other than the plug is it a straight swap or do you have to make up a new mounting bracket?

Yeah Steve straight swap and the mounting bracket fits too. The plug is actually really easy to swap over as well. I do have the Ford part number that you can quote to any motor factor and get the Ford coil for 2 and 6!!!
