Clutch thrust bearing

Just for info. folks:-Mine needs a new one at 18k - done under warranty this time, of course. The question is, do I have the lightened flywheel, 6 speed conversion plus (no brainer) spinner plate fitted whilst Lotus are paying the 8-hour labour bill for the gearbox out? Do bears do the proverbial in the undergrowth ?

OK, another question for the assembled mass of experience here - I have just been told that the VHPD already has a lighter flywheel - can anybody confirm this for sure?Cheers

RussI’ve posted the question to Nick Adams on the OLC bbs. Will let you know if/when I get an answer.PS Who’s going to be a “3 Lotus Cars Family” later on today, then [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] Hope Debs let you drive it [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

She has just landed home with it - asked her if I could drive over to yours while she has her tea - she told me to bugger off! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

RussJolly nice motor (Elise 2) [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Got an initial reply from Nick:Hi Pesky, I’m afraid I don’t know whether the Exige already has the ultra light flywheel fitted as standard, will try to find out tomorrow. As far as the clutch goes, the competition unit is probably a good investment if you enjoy hard starts If not then the standard one is pretty robust in normal use.Cheers, NickHTH

OK cheers mate. Glad you liked it.

Oh and I have never destroyed a clutch before in my life despite many miles hard driving. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
