My clutch release bearing has started to squeal (I think) and the car is generally really juddery from take off, which I’m assuming is the clutch on its way out, although its not slipping yet. Can anyone recommend a clutch replacement? Car is used for fast road use and a bit of track action. So nothing too fancy required. Also is there anything else worth swapping whilst Ive got the gbox out? Does the clutch usually come as a complete kit with the bearings?
I’m going to attempt to do it myself (probably with a lot of swearing) does anyone have a guide or workshop manual which might help? I might take the rear clam off just to make life simpler. There’s a whole host of other things I want to do like replace exhaust heat shields and fit this Letsla linkage kit, so it would make sense to take the clam off if it helps access dramatically.
No need for the rear clam off, my advice is to buy a clutch upgrade at the same time, the standard clutches do not like big HP, maybe Exedy or similar, I’m sure Dave has a good line of clutches, when putting back in use Redline MT 90 gearbox oil and maybe put in a lightweight flywheel at the same time.
I went for the exedy upgraded jobby, would personally avoid the paddle type offerings. Will also second the MT90 advice, lightened flywheel is nice, especially if yours is looking a little worn anyway
Why not fit a letsla too, maybe the stiffer gearbox mounts while its in bits?
I think thats it, I’ll update if I cant think of anything else, lol.
Cheers, yeah I’ve got the Letsla assembly sat here (Lovely bit of aluminium machining, Ive been admiring it sat on my desk for months now!) and also was reading about the Yellow Gearbox mounts the other day, so will do those and the g/box oil change at the same time.
