Clutch judder

Gearbox out today, also renewing the clutch cos it juddered.
I suspected a broken damper spring…
So I was well surprised to see this !

Think I must have about the same level of mechanical sympathy as Sean B

Jeez , looks a bit sore mate .

That’s down to all those 180s

Is the plate worn down to the rivets? What does the cover and flywheel look like?

Plate is about 75% down to the rivets .
Flywheel and cover are pretty much perfect though !
I’ve got a TRD clutch to go in ,and ,placing it side by side with the Helix it looks amazing in terms of engineering build quality.
Very impressive.
It was timing standing 1/4 miles that killed the clutch … won’t be doing that anytime soon

good to see you have the box out, not so good to see the clutch like that :astonished:

About 1000 miles use…
Edit : abuse

So, where did the missing piece go then!!!

It’s dusted my bellhousing a nice shade of black…
I know I’ve given it some abuse ,but, a thousand miles and it’s fooked ?
I’d wager that a standard clutch would have fared better .
I remember speaking to the factory (helix ) and to be fair ,they said …"beyond 190 lb/ft you’re on your own !

To be fair, I have seen clutches last 5 seconds in the hands of various mad men.

Good effort though

Merlins beard! Did you say that there were no loose pieces left in there? All things considered your probably lucky that there was no damage to the cover and/or flywheel.
